1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Emperor State Landaulet

This 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit I Emperor State Landaulet wears coachwork by British coachbuilders Hooper & Company. Popular with the Royal Family, Hooper & Company was revived by a team led by Canadian businessman John Dick in the 1980s to create one-off creations based upon modern Bentleys and Rolls-Royces. The Silver Lady Trust commissioned the build of this car atop the Silver Spirit platform. It was given a Masons Black and Royal Claret paint scheme and its length grew by nearly three feet. It was given custom-crafted rear doors and window glass accommodating a raised roofline with a removable center panel and folding landaulet top.

The interior was lavishly appointed with custom velour, rich cedar-dyed burled walnut, and entertainment and communications equipment that were, for 1989, state of the art. These included a Philips LCD color television in the armrest, a Philips 984 radio and compact disc player, and a Toshiba computer and printer. In the trunk with a refrigerator.

After the Emperor was completed in 1991, the car was throughout Europe before moving to Australia in late 1992, where it appeared at the Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth motor shows in 1993. The car was subsequently acquired by Hooper in 1994 and maintained in their corporate collection until 2010. It later entered the care of individuals residing in Switzerland before it was acquired by its third owners, the Calumet Collection. Currently, it has 12,859 miles on its odometer.
