TANNER FOUST HEADING TO WORLD RX OF CANADA ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK DRIVER TO RACE IN TROIS-RIVIÈRES

TANNER FOUST HEADING TO WORLD RX OF CANADA ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK DRIVER TO RACE IN TROIS-RIVIÈRESTROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec (August 6, 2015) - Champion rallycross driver, television host and stunt performer Tanner Foust is headed to Quebec to race the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Polo RX at the World RX of Canada, part of the week-long Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières.

'When I sat down with my calendar at the beginning of the year I made Canada a priority,' said Foust. 'The track looks amazing and I can't say enough about the enthusiasm of the fans at the GP3R event.'

The American driver is racing a select season of World RX events this year, in addition to a full charge on the Global Rallycross Championship and dates in Formula Drift and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. He won the second race in the 2015 Global Rallycross season, in Daytona, driving the Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle with the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team.

In Canada August 7 and 8 he will drive the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Polo RX with Marklund Motorsport. He won the Finnish round of the championship last year with the team.

'It can be a challenge hopping into a car as a guest driver because it takes some time to get up to speed,' said Foust. 'But the track in Canada is similar to the temporary circuits I'm used to seeing in the United States and I'm hoping that gives me an edge.'

While most of the races on the World RX schedule take place on permanent tracks featuring the sport's unique mix of dirt and tarmac, jumps, and the Joker lap element, there are no such rallycross facilities in North America. The GP3R track is a temporary construction using part of the former horse-racing track. It promises a roughly 40/60 dirt-tarmac split.

Getting back to rallycross will be a change of pace for Foust, who this past weekend attended the Nitto Auto Enthusiast Day at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. The free event is an annual highlight of southern California car culture. Foust gave demonstrations in his 900-horsepower, drift prepared Volkswagen Passat. He also took part in autograph sessions with fans and did some filming for an upcoming online video.

'It's such a great event that Nitto puts together each year. Having something like this that's free for everybody to celebrate car culture is amazing,' said Foust. 'It's different for me than racing, where I'm focused on the competition. Having a chance to talk about cars and burn up some tires for fans in my Passat is a lot of fun and I'm honored that Nitto invited me to take part.'

Nitto Auto Enthusiast Day featured a car show for enthusiasts and car clubs to show off their modified and restored vehicles, a vendor midway, and drifting demonstrations by Team Nitto drivers including Foust.

This weekend will mark the conclusion of a week of motorsport in Trois-Rivières, which kicked off last weekend with NASCAR Canada. A total of 20 Supercars will compete in World RX of Canada as well as eight RX Lites. Also on the track this weekend are Formula Drift Canada and FestiDrag Castrol.

Rallycross is a blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally competition. It promises intense crowd-pleasing action in a fan-friendly track environment. As many as 10 drivers line up to start at once, piloting high-horsepower compact cars through race traffic over a challenging short course that features jumps, unbanked turns, hills and transitions between pavement and gravel. It is sometimes described as an action motorsport and is emerging as the top youth-market motorsport in the world.
