Renault's first-half performance represents a year-to-date car market share of 3.1 per cent – an increase of 0.5 percentage points against the same period in 2015.

Sales of 9,156 cars in the month of June means Renault is also up on the month compared to last year – an increase of 37.6 per cent on June 2015.

In a burgeoning electric vehicle market that was up 12.5 per cent in the first half of the year compared to 2015, sales of Renault's electric vehicle range, comprising of ZOE, Twizy and Kangoo Z.E., doubled, rising by 26.1 per cent across the same period, with 1,199 EVs sold. ZOE contributed strongly to this performance, with 1,069 examples of the all-electric supermini being sold – a 39.4 per cent increase on the first six months of 2015 – continuing the trend set in Europe where Renault was the top-selling electric vehicle manufacturer in 2015.

Groupe Renault, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, has experienced unprecedented growth over the last three years, consistently outpacing the UK market. This growth has continued into 2016 with 71,492 Group vehicles being sold in the first six months of the year for a market share of 4.4 per cent – up 14.4 per cent and almost double that of the total market growth rate of 3.1 per cent. We are on track to deliver our GO5+ mid-term plan objectives and with one of the newest model line-ups in the car market, and with All-New Mégane arriving in showrooms this month, and then All-New Scénic and Grand Scénic arriving later in the year, we are confident that this trend is set to continue.'
