JACK HARVEY RETURNS TO INDY LIGHTS CHAMPIONSHIP WITH SPMLast year's runner-up earns continued RSF backing for assault on 2015 title

Jack Harvey is to return to the Indy Lights Championship in the USA with the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports squad, the Racing Steps Foundation has announced today (Monday).

Lincolnshire-born Harvey – who finished his 2014 rookie season as runner-up to the Colombian Gabby Chaves – has retained the RSF's backing for a second attempt on the title in the all-new Dallara IL-15 car.

'Jack took a bit of time to find his feet at the start of the 2014 season but soon showed himself to be a strong title contender,' said RSF founder Graham Sharp.

'So this year, having established a good working relationship with SPM, the expectation is for him to hit the ground running and position himself as the man to beat from the first round onwards.'

SPM joint owner Sam Schmidt added: 'Jack did an excellent job from the time he arrived here. e was always consistent in testing and had an excellent work ethic both on and off the track.

'I think his second year in the series will be key in that he will be returning to circuits he had to learn last year. So he can build on that experience this time around.

'The competition will be tough but I'm sure he can handle that.'

Harvey commented: 'I'm delighted to be heading back to Indy Lights for a second season with SPM which wouldn't be possible without the continued backing of the Racing Steps Foundation.

'Anderson Promotions have done a fantastic job in raising the profile of the series with the new car, new teams and a growing grid. So for me, it's definitely the right place to be racing.

'It'll be tougher this year, for sure. But rest assured I'm up for the challenge.'

Harvey returned to America yesterday ahead of the two-day, pre-season test at Palm Beach which gets underway tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Indy Lights season kicks off with a double-header at St Petersburg, Florida, on the weekend of March 28-29

The RSF is also backing three other drivers and one rider in 2015: Oliver Rowland in Formula Renault 3.5 with Fortec Motorsports, Jake Dennis in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Prema Power Team, Ben Barnicoat in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 with Fortec, and John McPhee in the Moto3 World Championship with the SaxoPrint RTG squad.

Other RSF driver and rider announcements are in the pipeline.
