NEW 'GENTHREE' SUPERCHARGER INCREASES CALLAWAY SPORTTRUCK HP, TORQUEJanuary 20, 2015 -- Beginning this week, all Callaway SportTrucks are being assembled with the new Callaway 'GenThree' supercharger system. This results in increasing power from 540 hp to 560 hp and from 522 lb-ft to 553 lb-ft of torque on 6.2L Callaway Silverados. On 5.3L Callaway Silverados, Tahoes and Suburbans, power increases from 460 hp to 480 hp and from 455 lb-ft to 477 lb-ft of torque. (All Callaway horsepower and torque ratings are SAE-corrected.) Plus, the new system's intercoolers reduce inlet air temperature so efficiently that there is no heat soak related power loss during extended towing or hauling heavy loads.

The SportTruck package price does not increase with the increased power; it remains at $17,395.

Originally developed for the 2014 Callaway Corvette SC627, the third-generation, GenThree supercharger system is a completely new Callaway design. To increase airflow capability and reduce charge air temperature, Callaway engineers devised a new supercharger housing and integrated intake manifold. Intake manifold runner cross-section and length were tuned for a broad torque band while maintaining excellent peak horsepower. Eaton's 2300cc TVS rotor pack was selected for its high adiabatic efficiency, OEM-certified quality, and service-proven reliability. Callaway's new triple-element intercooler design provides significantly lower inlet charge air temperatures than possible with single and dual element designs. New carbon fiber manifold base covers provide a finished, premium quality appearance.

The GenThree supercharger system delivers remarkable performance. While providing more horsepower and torque, it practically eliminates the power-robbing heat soak conditions that other superchargers inherently produce. In fact, during dynamometer testing, inlet air temperature increased by no more than 9ºF during individual runs, compared to increases of at least 35ºF with other intercooler designs. That means more consistent performance at the track and dragstrip for Corvette applications and, more importantly for truck and SUV owners, more consistent performance during extended towing or hauling. In addition, a new 10-rib pulley system has been incorporated to prevent drive belt slippage. In fact, the system's technical features are significant enough that utility and design aspects of this system are patent pending with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
