1979 Volkswagen Beetle

Share on:

Following 1977, the Volkswagen Beetle was only offered as a Convertible Sedan. Power was from a horizontally opposed, overhead-valve four-cylinder engine displacing 96.7 cubic-inches and mated to a four-speed manual gearbox.

The Volkswagen Beetle was the longest-running production car in history using the same basic platform and sold around the world. Produced from 1938 through 1980, around 21,529,464 examples were built. Most of them were sent to the United States during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The final year for the Beetle was 1980, of which all cars were all Cabriolets including 900 special edition versions. They were all triple black with styled steel sport wheels and whitewall tires. The interior featured twin map pockets, dual rear ashtrays, full carpeting, a passenger-side visor vanity mirror, and burled wood dashboard applique.
