*BMW AG test results. Actual acceleration results may vary, depending on specification of vehicle; road and environmental conditions; testing procedures and driving style. These results should be used for comparison only and verification should not be attempted on public roads. BMW urges you to obey all posted speed laws and always wear safety belts.

xDrive
xDrive adds revolutionary intelligence to the BMW performance arsenal. Únder the most challenging conditions, xDrive delivers variable power to individual wheels, providing tenacious grip and optimum traction. In all conditions, xDrive enhances driving dynamics to extract maximum exhilaration from tight curves and winding roads. The result is remarkably agile handling on any road, in any weather.

Adaptive Transmission Control
Automatically learns and adapts its operation to how the vehicle is driven. By tracking accelerator pedal movements, ATC recognizes how aggressively or gently you drive - and shifts gears accordingly.

Adjustable Rear Seatbacks
Allows left and right rear-seat passengers to angle their seatbacks to the most comfortable position and also helps increase rear cargo volume. (Requires Premium Package)

BMW Full Maintenance
Full Maintenance Program covers all factory-recommended maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Even includes items that need replacement due to normal wear and tear.

Check Control
Check Control helps the driver to be aware of the operational readiness of important functions, such as the lighting system and fluid levels. A pictogram display indicates the location of the feature that requires attention. Warnings are shown in the Check Control display at the bottom of the main instrument cluster, and are prioritized according to urgency. On-board computer functions can also be shown in the Check Control display, if desired.

Climate Zone Ventilation
Electronic climate zone controls allow the driver to select a lower air temperature for around the head and chest than in the footwell. With automatic recirculation control, when a sensor detects certain pollutants in the air, such as carbon monoxide or ethanols, it automatically switches to recirculating air. Twin active-charcoal micro-filters significantly help reduce air pollutants, such as dust and bacteria, and odors, from entering the cabin.

Double Vanos
Double VANOS allows the engine to 'steplessly' choose valve timing for both intake and exhaust camshafts. Electronically controlled in response to engine speed, load and temperature, Double VANOS maximizes engine response, efficiency and emission control. The benefit: more low- to medium-speed torque for strong acceleration and added flexibility for better highway performance, plus quieter, smoother engine at idle.

Dynamic Brake Control
Dynamic Brake Control is another important safety feature, crucial in extreme braking situations (such as when avoiding an accident). When it is necessary to build up brake pressure as quickly as possible, Dynamic Brake Control can speed up and reinforce this process, helping to provide the shortest possible stopping distance.

Dynamic Stability Control
Dynamic Stability Control is an innovative technology that combines the functions of traction control, braking enhancement, and cornering stabilization. DSC sensors continually monitor cornering-steering angle, transverse acceleration, yaw, wheel speed and brake pressure to instantly detect and correct loss of wheel traction due to slick spots, nasty weather, or emergency maneuvers. DSC helps you stay in control under all conditions, in any situation.

Head Protection System (HPS)
BMW's Head Protection System is an inflatable tubular structure to protect the heads of a vehicle's front and rear seat occupants. Operating in conjunction with the side airbags, the system provides front seat occupants with outstanding protection in the case of severe side impact. It helps protect the head from hitting the side window and being hit by objects penetrating the side window. In recognition of this remarkable protection, BMW was named 'Safe Car of the Millennium' by the International Brain Injury Association.

Hill Descent Control
When descending steep hills, it?s sometimes difficult to maintain stability and keep speed in check by ?riding the brake.? When driving under 20 mph on steeper downhill grades, Hill Descent Control (HDC) can be activated by pressing a button on the console. HDC then gently applies the brakes, as necessary, to help reduce the speed to a nearly constant 3-6 mph, and helps allow the driver to stay in control. The driver may also apply the brakes more strongly, if desired, to stop the vehicle.

On-board Navigation System
Úses GPS satellites and BMW technology to help show and tell you the way to your destination. It is included with the DVD-based navigation system. (Optional)

Service Interval Indicator
Recognizing that each vehicle is used differently - and so the need for routine maintenance is different for each vehicle - BMW developed the Service Interval Indicator. This device continually analyzes the way the BMW is driven, and uses this analysis to determine when it needs servicing - not just based on miles driven. The basic Oil Service includes a change of engine oil and filter, and select other maintenance items. Long-life sparkplugs are designed for a service life of 100,000 miles.

Vehicle & Key Memory
Handy Vehicle & Key Memory features can activate special convenience and safety features already programmed in the 3 Series. Vehicle Memory offers the choice of activating/deactivating Daytime Running Lights, an anti-theft motion detector, and 'Pathway Lighting' - headlights that stay on for 40 seconds after turning off the ignition.

With Key Memory, up to three keys can be separately programmed to individual preferences. Choose to unlock just the drivers door or both doors with the first press of the keyhead remote. Key Memory can also be programmed to relock the vehicle automatically when it reaches 5 mph. Key Memory can return the drivers seat to the same position as the last time that key was used; similarly, it can return climate control to the previous setting used.
