760i Engine
The 760i and 760Li's 6.0-liter V-12 engine introduces a higher level of power and performance in a production BMW. Generating 438 hp at 6000 rpm and 444 lb-ft of torque at 3950 rpm, this awe-inspiring V-12 sets a new standard for smooth running with rapid acceleration and deep reserves of power. The engine incorporates, Direct Fuel Injection. Instead of injecting fuel before the intake valves, fuel is delivered directly into each cylinder, enhancing fuel efficiency and emission control. Combined with other engine technology, including Valvetronic, Double-VANOS, a compression ratio of 11.5:1, and many other innovations, Direct Fuel Injection helps the V-12 achieve dramatic increases over the 326 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque of its predecessor. BMWAG test results. Obey local speed laws and always wear safety belts.

Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
Bluetooth wireless technology connects mobile phones enabled with Bluetooth to a vehicle for hands-free calling. With the use of a compatible Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, a driver can place and answer calls, and browse and select phonebook contacts from their phone, simply by using the multifunction steering wheel controls and radio keys.

2006 BMW 760i
Vehicles equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology are shipped fully activated, and only require the new owner to complete a simple one-time pairing procedure with a compatible Bluetooth phone. Úp to four paired phones can be stored in the car's memory system

6-speed STEPTRONIC
STEPTRONIC automatic transmission provides a choice of three modes: 'Drive', which incorporates BMW's Adaptive Transmission Control; 'Sport' automatic, for a more dynamic shift pattern; and STEPTRONIC automatic, for the hands-on control of a manual without using a clutch.

Active Cruise Control
Active Cruise Control is an advanced version of conventional cruise control systems. After setting the chosen speed and pre-set distance, radar measurements allow you to maintain a pre-set distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead in highway driving. As soon as sensors determine you are closing in on a vehicle ahead, the system automatically slows down to retain your pre-set distance. Once the distance has increased back to the chosen limit the system automatically accelerates to return your vehicle to its pre-set speed.

Active Knee Protection
Active Knee Protection is a special airbag designed to protect front-seat occupants knees in the event of a severe impact. It also reduces the amount of dash space that would have been taken up by a knee-protection system using dash-padding only.

Active Roll Stabilization
An 'active' suspension control system designed to reduce body-roll, or lean, while cornering. This improves the vehicle's suspension geometry (the degree of wheel angle relative to vertical).

All Season Traction (AST)
All Season Traction, part of Dynamic Stability Control, provides better stability and control in slippery road conditions all year long - packed snow, ice, rain- or oil-slicked roads, and sandy or rough surfaces. The system continually processes data from the anti-lock braking wheelspeed sensors. Any time a rear 'drive' wheel begins to lose traction, the system modifies the engine's electronic throttle and ignition timing to reduce torque. It also can act on each rear brake individually or simultaneously, as needed, to bring wheelspin under control. Dynamic Traction Control aids driving in deep snow or sand.

Aluminum Suspension System
Extensive aluminum components in suspension and brakes reduce unsprung weight, increasing ride comfort and assisting on the handling of irregular road surfaces.

Check Control
Check Control helps the driver to be aware of the operational readiness of important functions, such as the lighting system and fluid levels. A pictogram display indicates the location of the feature that requires attention. Warnings are shown in the Check Control display at the bottom of the main instrument cluster, and are prioritized according to urgency. On-board computer functions can also be shown in the Check Control display, if desired.

Climate Zone Ventilation
Electronic climate zone controls allow the driver to select a lower air temperature for around the head and chest than in the footwell. With automatic recirculation control, when a sensor detects certain pollutants in the air, such as carbon monoxide or ethanols, it automatically switches to recirculating air. Twin active-charcoal micro-filters significantly help reduce air pollutants, such as dust and bacteria, and odors, from entering the cabin.

Comfort Access
System automatically recognizes the authorized driver and unlocks the vehicle. Úpon exiting, driver merely presses the door handle to secure the vehicle.

Double Vanos
Double VANOS allows the engine to 'steplessly' choose valve timing for both intake and exhaust camshafts. Electronically controlled in response to engine speed, load and temperature, Double VANOS maximizes engine response, efficiency and emission control. The benefit: more low- to medium-speed torque for strong acceleration and added flexibility for better highway performance, plus quieter, smoother engine at idle.

Dynamic Brake Control
Dynamic Brake Control is another important safety feature, crucial in extreme braking situations (such as when avoiding an accident). When it is necessary to build up brake pressure as quickly as possible, Dynamic Brake Control can speed up and reinforce this process, helping to provide the shortest possible stopping distance.

Electronic Damping Control
Electronic Damping Control (EDC) automatically adjusts the shock absorber settings to meet changes in vehicle speed, load, or road and driving conditions. The driver selects either 'Sport' or 'Comfort' from the iDrive 'Settings' menu. EDC then modifies the shock absorbers to any degree, from the softest to the firmest setting. The result is exceptional riding comfort and fluid, responsive handling at all times. For example, the 'Sport' setting increases firmness under all conditions for a sportier driving feel. With the 'Comfort' setting, when sensors detect smooth roads, the shock absorbers are kept 'soft' for optimum riding comfort. When the vehicle is rounding a sharp corner or curve, the shock absorbers are automatically and instantly adjusted to a firmer level. And when the vehicle encounters irregular road surfaces, such as bumps or a 'washboard' surface, the shocks are instantly adjusted to the optimum level of firmness. This controls ride motions, helping to keep ride comfort at an acceptable level while maintaining road contact.

Head Protection System (HPS)
BMW's Head Protection System is an inflatable tubular structure to protect the heads of a vehicle's front and rear seat occupants. Operating in conjunction with the side airbags, the system provides front seat occupants with outstanding protection in the case of severe side impact. It helps protect the head from hitting the side window and being hit by objects penetrating the side window. In recognition of this remarkable protection, BMW was named 'Safe Car of the Millennium' by the International Brain Injury Association.

iDrive
The iDrive Controller, conveniently located on the center console, allows access to a variety of comfort functions displayed on the monitor. The turn/press button enables front-seat occupants to access the menu system and fine-tune settings for climate control, audio system, navigation system and communication with BMW Assist.

ISIS
Intelligent Safety and Information System (ISIS) is a comprehensive passive safety system designed to enhance the restraint systems response to real-world accidents. Sensors placed around the vehicle help ISIS monitor impact force and deploy airbags, safety belt pretensioners, force limiters, and the Battery Safety Terminal. Should a power failure occur in the event of a collision, ISIS also provides reserve power for the entire safety system.

Logic7 Audio System
Exceptional audio potential is fully reached with the available Logic7 audio system, which creates a new standard for acoustic realism in mobile sound. Únlike traditional stereo systems, Logic7 routes two-channel (stereo) sound through a seven-channel playback matrix to create 360-degree Surround Sound. The result is a thrilling recreation of the original music recording. Digital Sound Processing (DSP) and 13 upgraded speakers combine to deliver remarkable clarity and sound separation to all seating positions. And with the standard auxiliary audio input or optional 6-disc changer, the concert in the car can last for hours on end.

Park Distance Control
Park Distance Control uses ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to help you judge the distance to other cars and unseen objects when parking. The beeping becomes faster as your bumper approaches the object, turning into a constant tone when the distance is less than 12 inches.

Valvetronic
Valvetronic replaces the function of the throttle butterfly with continuously variable valve lift control, to enable the engine to breathe more easily. An electric motor controlled by the accelerator pedal turns an eccentric shaft, which transmits the rotation of the cams to the valves via a connecting lever. Controlling the position of the eccentric shaft controls the ideal valve lift. The result is remarkably smooth and optimized power and efficiency at all times.

Vehicle & Key Memory
Handy Vehicle & Key Memory features can activate special convenience and safety features already programmed in the 3 Series. Vehicle Memory offers the choice of activating/deactivating Daytime Running Lights, an anti-theft motion detector, and 'Pathway Lighting' - headlights that stay on for 40 seconds after turning off the ignition.

With Key Memory, up to three keys can be separately programmed to individual preferences. Choose to unlock just the drivers door or both doors with the first press of the keyhead remote. Key Memory can also be programmed to relock the vehicle automatically when it reaches 5 mph. Key Memory can return the drivers seat to the same position as the last time that key was used; similarly, it can return climate control to the previous setting used.

Voice Command
This system allows you to dial, add or delete stored telephone numbers hands-free. It can also activate numerous navigation system functions and record up to five minutes of notes. The Voice Command button must be pressed before each use, so conversations wont accidentally activate the phone or other.
