EXCLÚSIVE ENGINE SÚPPLIER FOR CHAMP CARS

The 2005 season will see Ford-Cosworth continue their commitment to racing success as the sole supplier of engines to the 'Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.' The series will continue to utilize turbocharged Champ Car engines at races around the world as the entire Champ Car grid will be powered by a redesigned and retooled version of Ford-Cosworth's race and championship –winning XF engine, dubbed the 'XFE.'

To comply with new Champ Car rules regarding horsepower and engine life, engineers at Ford-Cosworth made several performance modifications to the XF engine to create the XFE. The XFE engine is the fourth evolution in Cosworth's 'X' series of Champ Car engines that began with the introduction of the XB in 1992. Designed to produce between 700 and 750 horsepower, depending on circuit type, for upwards of 1,200 miles with minimal decrease in performance, the XFE provides Champ Car drivers a strong, reliable powerplant for their chase of the Champ Car World Series championship.

Ford Motor Company and Cosworth Racing enter 2005 looking to build on a winning heritage established throughout their 40-plus year partnership. The relationship between the two
companies was born in 1959, when two young engineers, Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth, for whom the name Cosworth is derived, recognized the potential of a new
passenger car engine developed by Ford of Britain. The duo was examining various production engine designs that could be the backbone of a single-seat racing series and quickly agreed that the new Ford engine offered the most promise. Thus began what many
regard as the most successful racing partnership in history, with Cosworth-prepared, four-cylinder Ford engines dominating many European series over the next several years, including Formula Junior, F3, F2 and several sports car series.

Racing has been not been just something that Ford Motor Company does. The passion to compete and be the best can be found in every car and truck Ford Motor Company produces.
At Ford: 'We Race, You Win.'

Lola
At the conclusion of the 2004 season, Newman/Haas Racing, LLC (NHR) had brought chassis manufacturer Lola 78 of its 154 victories in the Champ Car World Series and five of their nine championships. In 2004, the team experienced their best season in the series with their first one-two finish in the standings by champion Sebastien Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira, respectively, as well as six one-two finishes and a total of 20 appearances on the podium in 14 events. The 2005 season will mark the 20th in which NHR has competed with a Lola chassis.

After a three-year hiatus (1997-1999) to run the American-made Swift chassis, the 2000 season marked NHR's return to Lola, the chassis manufacturer with which it won all five of its Champ Car championships. In addition to switching back to the Lola chassis beginning with the 2000 season, team co-owner Carl A. Haas renewed his role as the North American distributor of the chassis through his company, Carl Haas Automobile Imports Inc. Newman/Haas Racing intends to add to Lola's victories in 2005 with Bourdais and Junqueira.

Lola Cars enters the 2005 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series on the heels of its best-ever Champ Car season. In 2004, the Huntingtonbased manufacturer earned its third Constructor's Championship as well as the Driver's Championship for the fourth consecutive year as the entire field chose to utilize the Lola chassis.

Lola Cars has enjoyed a long tradition of success in Champ Car racing including 9 Champ Car championships. Mario Andretti earned Lola's first title in 1984, and was followed by Bobby Rahal (1987 and 1992), Al Únser Jr. (1990), Michael Andretti (1991), Nigel Mansell (1993), Cristiano da Matta (2002) Paul Tracy (2003) and Sebastien Bourdais (2004). Newman/Haas Racing hopes to
bring Lola Cars its 10th Champ Car title in 2005.
