1930 Hupmobile Comet Speedster 1930 Hupmobile Comet Speedster 1930 Hupmobile Comet Speedster This vehicle houses the only Hupmobile engine to run in the Indy 500. Place 5th in 1932 averaged 101 MPH with Russ Snowberger driving. It finished 4th in AAA National Standing that same year. After the 1932 season, the engine went back to the Hupmobile factory in Detroit. In 1933 Dr. N. H. Knock of Denver purchased the Comet engine and installed it in the present Speedster body which was made from a 1930 Model 'H' Hupmobile 4-door touring. The Speedster ran at Bonneville Salt Flats many times. It is said to have run 145.6 MPH.
