1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo was available as a Sport Coupe and was powered by a 4.3-liter base V-6 engine. The 262 cubic-inch overhead-valve engine offered 130 horsepower and Chevrolet claimed that it was as economical as the 3.8-liter V6 engine. Base models had a new cloth interior trim and five new interior colors, and new standard wheel covers. Monte Carlo SS models were finished in Silver, Maroon, White, or Black. The interiors could be either gray or maroon, with either bench or bucket style seats. They had special instrumentation, a rear spoiler, sport mirrors, a sport steering wheel, and a sport suspension. 'SS' lettering could be found on the doors and deck lid. In the front were black-out style grille that featured quad rectangular headlamps on either side with inset park/signal lamps below the forward crease line. The 5-liter V8 engine in the SS was mated to a four-speed overdrive automatic transmission. The SS could be purchased with removable black roof panels.

For 1985, Chevrolet produced 119,057 examples of the Monte Carlo, down from 136,781 from the prior year.
