THE LAMBORGHINI BLANCPAIN SUPER TROFEO EUROPE HEADS THIS WEEKEND TO THE ICONIC CIRCUIT OF SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

• For the first time, two Lamborghini Huracán GT3s will be fielded in the prestigious 24 hours of Spa.

Sant'Agata Bolognese, 20 July 2015. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will race its fourth round out of six weekends on one of the most iconic and fascinating circuits in the world: Spa-Francorchamps.

During the same weekend that will host the 24 hours of Spa, the main event of the Blancpain Endurance Series, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will feature a new grid record: up to 35 cars will line up on the starting grid, out of which 29 will be Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo.

Two Lamborghini Huracán GT3s will be fielded for the first time by the Grasser Racing Team in the renowned 24 hours endurance race that will start on Saturday 25 at 16.30. Both cars will be driven by official Lamborghini Squadra Corse drivers. In the #19 Huracán, the Italian Fabio Babini, the Dutchman Jeroen Mul and the American Andrew Palmer will share the wheel. The two Italians Mirko Bortolotti and Giovanni Venturini, along with the South African Adrian Zaugg will compete with the #63 car. So far they managed a P8 in Silverstone and a P6 in Paul Ricard after having seized the pole position. The event will be live streamed on http://www.blancpain-gt-series.com/live.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo line-up

After the rounds in Monza, Silverstone and Paul Ricard, Patrick Kujala (Bonaldi Motorsport) is the current championship leader. With five wins so far under his belt he is the man to beat in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe 2015. The Antonelli Motorsport duo made up of the Russian Roman Mavlanov and the Italian Daniel Zampieri, managed to put to an end his undisputed rule, winning Race Two in France and achieving third place overall in the PRO Class standing.

A 20-point gap divides the leader from chasers Sergio Campana and Fabrizio Crestani. The Team Lazarus pair proved to be among the season's most consistent, scoring five podium finishes.

Aiming for a top position will also be the Japanese Shinya Michimi and the Italian Kei Cozzolino Vincenzo Sospiri Racing pair, who scored a P2 in Le Castellet. With similar intentions is the Raton Racing crew made up of the Swiss Patric Niederhauser and the Italian Edoardo Liberati, the latter undisputed protagonist two weeks ago in the Shanghai round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia where he managed to set pole position and to win Race One.

The German Florian Spengler (Bonaldi Motorsport) will be looking instead to turnaround his fortunes after a disappointing P6 at Paul Ricard. It's a similar situation for the Imperiale Racing pair Giacomo Barri/Alberto Cerqui that, in France, after an encouraging P2 in Race One were force to retire in Race Two, and for Alberto Di Folco (Raton Racing) so far constantly among the protagonists of the series.

Back on top of the PRO-AM Class is the duo made up of the Finn Mikko Eskelinen and the Dutchman Kelvin Snoeks (Leipert Motorsport), which the Swiss Adrian Amstutz (Konrad Motorsport) in Paul Ricard, now chasing nine points behind. Current PRO-AM Class third overall is the Italian Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore), who raced in a pair with the 2014 PRO Class Champion Milos Pavlovic in Paul Ricard. The spotlight will also be on Marco Moscato and Loris Spinelli (Antonelli Motorsport), following their first success in the Series in the Silverstone round.

The Artline Team Georgia driver Shota Abkhazava is still the leader of the AM Class. Watch out though for Mark Ineichen (Konrad Motorsport) now chasing only three points behind.

The double scored in Paul Ricard allowed the Portuguese Carina Lima and the Italian Andrea Palma duo to achieve their third win of the season and increase their leadership in the AM-Gallardo Class.

The two free practice sessions of one hour each are set for Thursday 23 July. Qualifying is set for Saturday at 10.40 CET (two 15-minute sessions with a five minute pause between). Race One starts on Friday at 14.55 CET and will be run over the usual 50-minute distance. The green light for Race Two is Saturday at 11.35 CET. Both races will be live streamed as usual on the official Lamborghini Squadra Corse website http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/en/live, and shown live in Italy on Nuvolari (ch. 60 Cable) and in Europe on Motors TV.
