1971 Intermeccanica Italia

Construzione Automobili Intermeccanica was founded in 1959 in Torino, Italy by Frank Reisner. Mr. Reisner later moved the company to Canada. Initially, the business centered around automotive tuning kits. The first cars they produced were Formula Junior races powered by Peugeot engines. Later, Reisner imported American V8 engines for installation in his road-going chassis. The cars were early cars were dubbed the Apollo GT, later succeeded by the Omega, and then the Italia. The first Italia came to the United States in 1968.

The Intermeccanica Italia was exclusive and expensive. The 'prancing bull' badging was a nod to Torino's coat of arms. They had classic styling with vintage Ferrari undertones. Performance was exceptional with zero-to-sixty mph taking just 6.2 seconds and had a top speed of 155 mph, courtesy of a Ford V8 engine. The steel body was hand-formed, and its chassis was made from tubular steel.

The Italia was produced from 1967 to 1973 with production reaching 350 units.
