August 13, 2015 - PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Mercedes-Benz will celebrate its long tradition of luxury and performance at the 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance from August 12-16, 2015. With the launch of the sub-brands Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG last year, the brand will showcase some of the finest modern and classic vehicles at the premiere automotive weekend event.

Highlights include the legendary 1955 300 SLR '722,' which celebrates the 60th anniversary of its overall victory in the 1955. Driven by Sir Stirling Moss, the record time of 1000 miles in 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 28 seconds on public roads throughout Italy has never been broken. Also on display is a tribute to the AMG 300 SEL 6.8 'Red Pig' aka 'Rote Sau,' a predecessor of today's S-Class. AMG was founded in 1969, but its breakthrough moment took place in 1971 with the Red Pig at the 24 Hours of Spa race in Belgium. By competing and winning against much smaller and more nimble race cars at the time, the Red Pig made an indelible mark in racing history. The latest example of AMG's complete design and engineering efforts are the Mercedes-AMG GT S, but offers new levels of performance and refinement.

Mercedes-Benz will also showcase a selection of its most exclusive luxury sedans from past and present, including the all-new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman – its first appearance on U.S. soil. With a length of 21.3 ft. (6.5 meters) it provides space for a generously-sized and tastefully appointed club lounge in the rear, which has a multitude of creature comforts fitted as standard equipment. This chauffeur-driven limousine is more than equal to today's demands for the ultimate in exclusivity and luxury. European pricing has been set at around EURO 500,000, with the first global customer deliveries taking place in the first half of 2016. Similar models from the past will also on display at Pebble Beach, including a 1930 Maybach DS7 and a 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman. Mercedes-Benz has always excelled in upper top echelons of vehicle luxury, and these models exemplify the pinnacle of exclusivity from their respective time periods.

In addition to celebrating the best of Mercedes-Benz in the past, present, and future, the Mercedes-Benz President's Dinner on Friday, August 14th is a highlight that has long become an annual tradition for invited guests. This year's Star Driver Award will serve to honor Mr. Mike Jackson, current President and CEO of AutoNation and former President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America. As a former Mercedes-Benz dealer whose career took him from working in the back of the store as a mechanic to ownership before he reached the age of 30, Mr. Jackson is a force in the auto industry, whose presence in the media continues to reinforce his leadership and ability to successfully take calculated risks. Past recipients of the Star Driver Award include Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Leo Levine, Jesse Alexander, Keith Crain, John Fitch, Denise McCluggage, Jochen Mass, Sir Stirling Moss, Roger Penske, and Arturo Keller.

Customers will also have the opportunity to see new significant models both inside and outside the Mercedes-Benz display tent in broad daylight along The Lodge driveway.
