1976 Chevrolet Camaro

The 1976 Chevrolet Camaro coupe had a base price of $3,760 and was powered by an inline, overhead-valve, six-cylinder engine displacing 250 cubic-inches and delivering 105 horsepower at 3,800 RPM. It used a recirculating ball steering, a 21-gallon fuel tank, a 108-inch wheelbase, and front disc and rear drum brakes. In the front was a coil spring suspension while the rear used leaf springs. The base OHV V-8 engine displaced 305 cubic-inches (replacing the prior 350 CID V8), added approximately $100 to the base price, and delivered 140 horsepower and 245 foot-lbs of torque. The 350 CID V8 option delivered 145 horsepower and 250 ft-lbs of torque. Depending on the configuration, the 350 CID could be tuned to produce 165 horsepower.

The Chevy Camaro had Magic-Mirror acrylic finish, variable-ratio power steering, a wide-tread suspension, a left-hand outside rearview mirror, and new narrow bright rocker panel moldings. The interior had a padded vinyl-covered four-spoke steering wheel, flow-through power ventilation, heater/defroster, and carpeting. The 14x6 inch wheels were wrapped with FR78-14 steel-belted radial-ply black sidewall tires.

The Rally Sport package added $260 to the base price and added low-gloss black finish on the hood, the headlight bezels, the upper fenders, the rocker panels, the radiator grille, and the front section of the roof. There were 'Rally Sport' decals located on the rear deck lid, and 'Rally Sport' decals on the front fender. It rode on Rally wheels and there was tri-color striping separating the black-accented areas from the body color.

The Camaro Type LT (Luxury Touring) Series S added 'Type LT' nameplates, Hide-A-Way windshield wipers, and 14x7 inch Rally wheels. Inside, there was a clock, tachometer, a voltmeter, temperature gauge, color-keyed steering wheel, a glove compartment light, and simulated leather instrument panel trim. Other LT features included vertical sticking on the cloth-and-vinyl upholstery and special bucket seats with deep-contour seat backs with built-in padded armrests. The standard engine in the Type LT was the new 305 CID V8.
