1925 Buick Master Six

Buick built a reputation as a producer of reliable cars with advanced engineering and stylish bodies. The last of the four-cylinder Buicks disappeared after 1924, and the 1925 Buick model lineup included the Standard Six and the Master Six. The Standard Six had a 114.3-inch wheelbase and the Master Six rested on a 120- and 128-inch platform. The Standard Six had a 191 cubic-inch six while the Master Six had a 255 CID version. Both had four main bearings, mechanical valve lifters, 'valve-in-head' overhead valves, and a cast-iron block. Both were backed by a three-speed sliding gear transmission with floor shift controls, and multiple disc clutch. Mechanical brakes on four wheels provided the stopping power. Wooden spoke wheels with detachable rims were standard while white sidewall tires were optional.

The Standard Six line consisted of nine body styles and the Master Six offered fourteen. Both opened and closed body styles were available, cloaked in a number of distinctive color combinations. For the first time in Buick's history, closed models outsold the open coachwork. Prices on the Standard ranged from $1,150 to $1,670, and the Master listed from $1,360 to $2,525. The Master Six accounted for approximately forty-one percent of Buick's total 1925 production.
