The Mercedes-Benz 300CE joined the lineup in 1988, the same year the turbocharged diesel six-cylinder engine left, leaving just gasoline powerplants. The coupe rested on a shorter wheelbase than its sedan sibling, measuring 106.9 inches versus the 115.6-inches of the sedan. Its windshield was steeper than its siblings and had window glass void of frames. The interior was plush, with leather upholstery and many features offered as standard equipment.The 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 CE was powered by a six-cylinder, 180.8 cubic-inch engine that produced 215 horsepower and 194 foot-pounds of torque. The DOHC engine added an extra 40 horsepower over the base 3-liter six. The cost to own a 300 CE in 1992 was around $33,990.
