1987 Pontiac Fiero

The 1987 Pontiac Fiero was a P-body, mid-engine sports car available in Coupe, Sport Coupe, SE Coupe, and GT Coupe body styles. The base and Sport Coupe models received new fascia's in the front and rear and all - except the GT - had a new front license plate holder. Power came from a 2.5-liter EFI four that had increased air flow and more power. The Fiero GT, which was introduced in mid-1986, had a Gertag/GM gearbox and a 2.8-liter V6 engine rated at 135 HP. An optional automatic was available. Other features of the GT included fastback styling, WS6 performance suspension, and 15-inch diamond-spoke aluminum wheels. They were also given a back-lit instrument cluster with a tachometer, trip odometer, fuel and temperature gauges, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, and Euro-style bucket seats. There were dual twin-trumpet exhausts and could be ordered with a wing spoiler.

The base and Sport coupe models rode on 14-inch Tri-Tech wheel covers, a four-spoke steering wheel, a full-length console, and cloth-appointed bucket seats and trim.

The Fiero SE models had unique styling, complete instrumentation, a full-length console, a four-spoke sport steering wheel, and Pallex cloth trim on Euro-style bucket seats. An optional rear decklid spoiler could be added.

For 1987, Pontiac produced 44,432 Fiero models.
