1954 Ford Customline

Fords intermediate trim level for 1954 was the Customline Series. Body styles included a 2- and 4-door sedan, 2-door club coupe, and a 2- and 4-door station wagon. Power was from an overhead valve six-cylinder engine displacing 223 cubic-inches and offered 115 horsepower. An optional V8 with 239 cubic-inches offered 130 horsepower. A three speed manual transmission was standard equipment and featured a semi-centrifugal-type clutch. Second and third gears had three-speed helical gears and synchronizers. A three-speed with automatic overdrive was optional.

Chrome strips ran along the length of the body. Chrome was also used for the window moldings, half-horn ring, and a chrome stone shield near the bottom of the rear quarter panels. Inside, there were armrests on the doors and two sun visors.

For 1954, Ford produced over 674,000 examples of the Customline. 262,499 units of the 4-door sedan were built along with 293,375 of the 2-door sedan.
