1958 Watson McNamara Chiropratic Special 1958 Watson McNamara Chiropratic Special 1958 Watson McNamara Chiropratic Special In 1958, prior to the start of qualifying for the Indy 500, Lee Elkins bought this car without an engine from A.J. Watson. The McNamara Motor Freight Company car #73 was hastily put together by crew chief Floyd Trevis, then Dick Rathmann qualified on the pole at 145.974 mp/h, setting a new track record. The car finished 27th following a first-lap, third-turn accident with Ed Elisain: sixteen cars were involved and Pat O'Connor lost his life.

In 1959 it became the #97 McNamara Chiropractic Special, starting 4th and finishing 20th due to a fire in the pits during a refueling. In 1960, with new owner Jim Robbins and driven by Dick Rathmann, it started 4th and finished 31st due to brake and line failure on lap 42. In 1961, it qualified in 6th position with a 13th place finish. In 1962 Jim Robbins entered the car in its last Indy 500 as #91. Driven by Jim Hurtubise, it qualified 29th and finished 13th.

After a major crash in 1971 in Sandusky, Ohio, it stayed unchanged until in 1988, Jack Layton of Michigan restored it to the original 1958 McNamara colors. In 1990 the car was repainted to the 1959 colors of maroon and gold s the McNamara Chiropractic Special car #73. In 2005, it became part of the current owner's collection.
