GUTHRIE RACING TIES BEST FINISH OF THE YEAR AT MID-OHIO

Guthrie Racing's Franck Perera started and finished second in the first of two races at the fabled Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the Firestone Indy Lights. The second place finish ties Guthrie Racing's highest finish of the 2008 season.

'It feels good to get a solid finish for the Guthrie Racing team,' said Perera, who set the second fastest lap of the race. 'This is good for the team, and that's what it is all about.'

Perera began to gain on pole sitter Raphael Matos, but without a yellow the Frenchman was unable to get close enough to make the pass for the win.

2008 Dallara Guthrie Racing IndyLights'We really needed a yellow to have a shot at overtaking Matos,' said Perera. 'I'm running the Lights to learn, and get back into the IndyCar Series like I started the '08 season. Today was a good learning day.'

Perera's second place is a continuance of the strong July that Guthrie Racing has been having up to this point. Perera will start third in race two tomorrow.

'We have been posting solid results this month, and I'm really proud of all my guys,' said Jim Guthrie, owner of Guthrie Racing. 'Today's race was a major step forward for the 55 team, now we need to get our other cars up there on the podium as well.'

Sean Guthrie drove his No.4 Car Crafters machine to a 13th place finish after starting 17th on the 2.25 mile road course.

'I would have liked to have a better result today, but we brought the car home in one piece and that's what matters with another race tomorrow,' said Guthrie. 'I'm learning a lot about road courses through this series, and I am really starting to get a good grip on them. Tomorrow will be another tough race, but I'm looking forward to it.'

Logan Gomez and Robbie Pecorari retired early due to mechanical problems. Gomez will start 20th and Pecorari will start 22nd in tomorrows round of the Mid-Ohio double header.
