1977 Fiat 124

Fiat produced the 124 Sport Spider from 1966 through 1980. It had made its debut at the November 1966 Turin Motor Show and was designed and manufactured by Italian carrozzeria Pininfarina, more specifically by Sergio Pininfarina. Sergio used the already available designs of the Chevrolet Corvette 'Rondine' and Ferrari 275 GTS. Power was from a four-cylinder engine that was designed by Dan Varo. It begin in 1966 with a capacity of 1438cc, progressively increasing to 1608cc in 1970, 1756cc in 1974 and finally 1995cc in 1979. The double overhead cam version was the first mass manufactured DOHC to utilize reinforced rubber timing belts, an innovation that would come into nearly universal use in the decades after its introduction.

There were few changes to the 124 Sport Spider for 1977. The 2-door convertible had a base price of $6,110 and was powered by a 109 CID four-cylinder engine offering 86 (SAE) horsepower. Standard equipment including a tachometer, sport steering wheel, and steel disc wheels.
