High Wycombe, May 31 2016: Hyundai Motor UK is delighted to announce that, for the third successive season, it will partner Britain's round of the FIA World Rally Championship.

Building on the successful affiliation of the past two years, Hyundai Motor UK has been reappointed as the prestigious event's 'Official Car Partner' – a move that reinforces the company's growing presence at the forefront of the WRC.

Hyundai Motorsport's ambitious team returned to the World Rally Championship at the start of 2014 and made an immediate impact by winning in Germany. Stepping up its challenge, a second-generation i20 WRC was introduced at the start of this season and has already proved to be a winner with a stirring victory in Argentina.

The partnership between Wales Rally GB and Hyundai Motor UK once again will see the rally-winning i20 WRC car featuring prominently on all of the 2016 event's promotional materials including posters, ticketing leaflets and publicity flyers as well as on the walesrallygb.com website and the cover of the official programme.

Hyundai Motor UK will also provide a fleet of 34 liveried vehicles for use on the event (27-30 October) by key members of the organisation team and FIA dignitaries.

'It has been a pleasure to join forces with Hyundai for the past two years and we are delighted the company is extending its role as 'Official Car Partner' to Wales Rally GB in 2016,' said Ben Taylor, Managing Director of Wales Rally GB. 'The logistics and demands of staging a major world championship event are enormous, and we couldn't possibly overcome these challenges without the support of major partners like Hyundai. Its fleet of impressive cars and SUVs have proved absolutely invaluable to the successful organisation and running of Wales Rally GB and will do so again come October.'

The Hyundai Motorsport team enjoyed an encouraging Wales Rally GB debut in 2014 when Thierry Neuville just missed out on a podium with a highly creditable fourth position – a positive result that Dani Sordo replicated in 2015. Moreover, with team-mate Hayden Paddon finishing fifth, there were two Hyundai i20s in the top five.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai Motor UK's President and CEO, commented: 'Rally sport is in Hyundai's DNA and we are delighted to be supporting Wales Rally GB for the third consecutive year. There couldn't be a better environment for us to showcase the robustness of our road and rally products than over the tough forest rally routes of north and mid Wales in late October.'

He continued: 'Competing in the World Rally Championships allows us to transfer technology and learnings between our competition and showroom models – and this will be even more prevalent as we develop and bring to market our motorsport-inspired high performance sub-brand 'N'. We hope that through our continuing support of the event, we can not only raise the awareness of our current range but also underline its dynamism to what is always an engaged and enthusiastic audience. The latest i20 WRC has already proven its capabilities when winning in Argentina and, having come so close for the past two years, it would be fantastic to see the Hyundai Motorsport team on the podium here in the UK.'

This year's exciting rally route – including some significant new elements – will be revealed on Wednesday 1 June. In the meantime, spectators can pre-register their interest for ticket information – and enter a special prize draw – via the official www.walesrallygb.com website.
