The Aston Martin Virage was produced from 1989 through 2000 with a total of 1050 examples produced. It was used as a replacement for the outgoing V8 models and first introduced to the public at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show. A few years later, in 1993, it was accompanied by the high-performance Vantage model and by 1996, the name of the standard car was changed to 'V8'.

Auction entries : 2The Virage had hand-formed aluminum bodies that were very modern and remarkably clean. The interior featured Connolly leather and Wilton wool carpeting and wood trim. Power from the 5.3-liter engine was rated a 330 BHP. There were four valves per cylinder and a Weber-Marelli fuel injection system engineered by Callaway in Connecticut. The standard transmission was a five-speed unit but a three-speed automatic was available. Most customers purchased the car with the automatic.The Virage arrived in the United States beginning in the summer of 1990. Two years later, it was joined by the cabriolet Volante version and later the Vantage edition. In total, there were around 400 examples of the Virage built with a mere 54 making their way stateside. Of those, it is believed that only 14 were given the five-speed manual transmission.
