1913 Herreshoff Model 30

The Herreshoff automobiles were the work of Charles Frederick Herreshoff who had designed the engine for the 1908 Thomas-Detroit. The Herreshoff car was introduced in 1909 and would remain in production until 1914. Charles Herreshoff had left the company in March of 1914 and production soon halted. Charles was later involved with the Harvard car built in Troy, Michigan.

Charles Herreshoff's family was legendary in yachting circles. He was the nephew of the famous naval architects J.B. and Nathaniel Herreshoff.

The early Herreshoff automobiles were powered by a four-cylinder engine designed by Charles for marine use. The engines would increase in power over the years. By 1911, the company offered two models, including one with a limousine body, and a six-cylinder car with a Lycoming engine was added in 1913.
