1964 Fiat 1500GT

Giacinto Ghia founded Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin in 1919 and along with its legacy of elegant and stylish bodies, they also helped train many of Italy's rising-star designers such as Michelotti, Boano, and Frua. Ghia worked with many of the world's leading manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Lancia, and Fiat.

The Fiat Ghia 1500 GT (later re-named as the Ghia 1500 GT) wore styling by Sergio Coggiola and was the work of Ghia, not a commission from Fiat. It was a stylish fastback coupe resting on a sheet steel box-section and tubular frame that was shorter than the standard Fiat 1500 saloon. It used the powertrain of the Fiat 1500, however the engine was moved further back to help achieved a 50/50 weight distribution. These hand-built vehicles offered its occupants comfort, luxury, and all-round visibility. They were built in Ghia's shop in the Via Agostino di Montefeltro at a rate of four cars per day at peak demand. By the time production came to a close, a total of 846 examples were built over the two-year production period. Currently, it is estimated that 70 examples exist worldwide.
