PEUGEOT UK LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAMME TO SUPPORT ‘RISING STARS' TALENT IN SPORT

PEUGEOT has a strong reputation in motor sport through its Peugeot Sport division and is also heavily associated with Tennis, supporting Novak Djokovic and Jamie Murray as International and UK Brand ambassadors respectively. To further support PEUGEOT UK's association with sport it talented young sports stars at various stages in their career, following them on their journey as they take on the challenge to be at the top of their game.

This year PEUGEOT UK is supporting three young individuals whose disciplines are: tennis, para-triathlon and triathlon. Jake Hersey, Lauren Steadman and Jodie Stimpson are the first sports people to work with PEUGEOT UK as part of its 'Rising Stars' programme.

16-year-old Rugby-based GB Junior Tennis star Jake Hersey was introduced to tennis at the young age of four, with many key achievements including winning the U10 Nationals at nine-years-old, winning the Grade 1 Champions Cup in Belgium and representing Great Britain through the age groups. Jake has been based full time at the Edgbaston Priory High Performance LTA centre since 2013, continuing his education and pursuit of Tennis, Jake explains: 'My goal for 2016 is to get to the top 100 in the world for Under 18's, I'm currently ranked in the top 250 in my second year in ITF Juniors.'

At the young age of 23, Peterborough-based Para-Triathlete, Lauren Steadman, is a Multiple World and European Champion. Lauren has qualified to represent Great Britain in the Rio 2016 Paralympics, and when asked the question: 'What are you most looking forward to at Rio?' Lauren explained, 'The atmosphere, it's an incredible place. I'm going into these games in a very different position to London 2012, competing in a new event, so I'm looking forward to seeing if I can achieve all that I set out to do.' Lauren also competed as a swimmer in the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Paralympic Games.

27-year-old Jodie Stimpson is a 2014 Double Commonwealth Gold Medallist based in Oldbury. Jodie was introduced to the sport of triathlon at just eight-years-old and won her first event at nine-years-old. Since then Jodie has gone on to win over 20 gold medals throughout her career. When asked her favourite part about being an international athlete her response was: 'My favourite part of competing is finding new levels and achieving more!' This year alone Jodie has won two gold medals at the Abu Dhabi ITU WTS and the Australian Mooloolaba ITU Triathlon World Cup.

PEUGEOT has a rich history in motor sport, with successes in many disciplines; the World Rally Championship, Pikes Peak, Le Mans 24-hour race, World RallyCross (WRX) and the torturous Dakar race. In January 2016 three PEUGEOT 2008 DKR teams entered into the Dakar race in Argentina, with Stephane Peterhansel winning the rally in PEUGEOT's second year in the South American race. The team is currently on the Silk Way Rally, driving from Russia to China finishing on 24th July 2016. Secondly, PEUGEOT has two teams competing in WRX; Team PEUGEOT Hansen has two cars entered with Timmy Hansen and nine-times World Rally Champion Sébastian Loeb and with the PEUGEOT Hansen Academy Davy Jeanney and 2015 WRX Lites champion Kevin Hansen driving.

PEUGEOT is also committed to the sport of Tennis with a long (32-year) connection with the French Open at Roland Garros, and associations with British Tennis (LTA) and ATP. Novak Djokovic is PEUGEOT's International Brand Ambassador and Jamie Murray as its UK Brand Ambassador.
