Power and Advanced Utility Features Make the 2007 Nissan Titan an Unmatched Value

2007 Nissan Titan
In 2007, the Nissan Titan pickup carries on the tradition of innovation, performance and value it established three years ago when it was first introduced. Titan was the first in class* to offer features such as Wide-Open rear doors (King Cab) that open 168 degrees for nearly unlimited interior access, a high-utility bed that includes an industry-first factory-applied spray-on bedliner, a Útili-track tie-down system that provides ultimate cargo hauling flexibility and an integrated, lockable bedside storage compartment.

2007 Nissan TitanThe 2007 Titan receives only minor enhancements from the 2006 model, which received top honors in the Large Pickup segment of J.D. Power and Associates' Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study. The study measures owner 'delight' with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles.

2007 Nissan Titan
'At Nissan we specialize in offering solutions to customers' unmet needs, and Titan is one of the best examples,' said Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. 'Our research revealed that truck owners wanted better access to the rear seat in King Cabs, better use of their truck beds, a better solution to drop-in bedliners and a better alternative to high fuel costs – and Titan delivers across the board.'

2007 Nissan TitanThe 2007 Titan, as an available Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV), is equipped with a common fuel tank designed to run on varying blends of gasoline with ethanol or other fuel. (concept carz) Ethanol is a renewable, environmentally friendly fuel that reduces CO2 greenhouse gas, and Nissan's and others' expansion of such technology into the Ú.S. market could play a key role in the long-term Ú.S. energy strategy.

Other 2007 Titan enhancements include an increase to 317 horsepower (from 305 horsepower) and to 385 lb-ft torque (from 379 lb-ft). Titan LE and SE models add Chrome Packages that share 18' chrome wheels and chrome step rails, SE offers a utility bed option with the Chrome Package, and LE models add an available 'Texas Titan' Package.

Full-Size Power for Full-Size Lives
The heart and soul of the Titan is pure, unabashed power. For 2007, Titan's all-aluminum 5.6-liter V8 engine receives an increase to both the bell mouth radius on the air cleaner and the port diameter of the intake manifold, helping produce increased 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque ratings. Titan features a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 pounds for King Cab and 9,400 pounds for Crew Cab (when properly equipped) – as much as some 3/4-ton pickups. Titan utilizes a rugged, fully boxed high-strength all-steel F-Alpha platform for enhanced crash performance and long-term durability.

The standard 5-speed automatic transmission was designed especially for heavy-duty truck use, with emphasis on serious towing. Each component was created for full-size truck application, and a wide gear ratio was used to create a high performance control system producing top-class acceleration, power and shift quality.

The use of advanced engine technology such as aluminum block with cast iron cylinder liners, forged steel crankshaft, microfinished crankshaft and camshaft, graphite-coated pistons, 6-bolt main bearing caps, and Super Silent single-stage timing chain result in good fuel economy with no sacrifice of performance.

For 4WD models, Titan adapts an advanced shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive system with 2WD/4HI/4LO modes with electronic control part-time transfer case.

An Off-Road package is available with unique lower ratio gearing, switch-on-demand electronically activated locking rear differential, off-road-style Rancho® performance gas shock absorbers, unique 17-inch alloy wheels with large all-terrain tires, fog lights and lower radiator, oil pan and transfer case skid plates.

2007 Nissan TitanTitan's responsive handling is a product of its all-steel double wishbone front suspension design and overslung leaf spring (dual rate) rear suspension with shackles mounted along the frame sides to increase departure angle. The Titan comes standard with 17-inch painted steel wheels and 245/75R17 tires or available 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (five or six spoke) and 265/70R18 tires. Also available are 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and 285/70R17 tires as part of the Off-Road package.

Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is standard, along with 4-wheel disc brakes with Bosch Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Full-Size Interior Like No Other
Titan's interior is extremely spacious with 126 cubic feet available in the Titan Crew Cab. The Titan Crew Cab also offers excellent front and rear seat leg room of 41.8 inches and 40.4 inches respectively.

Two interior configurations are available – a standard bench seat with column shifter, which seats six passengers or an optional Captain's Chair Package with two front bucket seats, which seats five passengers and offers a large center console and gated floor shifter.

The center console can hold a variety of beverage containers, including a 1-liter bottle. A 12-volt adapter is equipped in the storage area and can be used as a power source for a phone or other electronic devices. The storage in the center console offers passengers a variety of storage choices, with size adjusted by simply removing or adding dividers. The console's storage box can also accommodate hanging file folders and contains holders for maps, paper, pens and business cards on the console lid.

Among the Titan's many interior features are standard flip-up 60/40 rear seat cushions for added cargo space and flexibility, with grocery hooks on the bottom of the seat cushions. The rear floor was designed to fold nearly flat for maximum cargo utility. The Crew Cab's rear seat is large and relaxing, with a full 24 degrees of seat back angle.
Titan's rear compartment offers ample rear storage, including door storage bins and rear door bottle holders in the armrests and available power front windows with one-touch auto up/down function (not available on King Cab XE models).

An available overhead console system gives passengers more storage options. The console houses rear audio controls and also contains dampened storage bins for both front and rear passengers for items like sunglasses, CDs, cell phone, PDA or a small tissue box. Crew Cab models offer an optional rear-seat DVD Mobile Theatre System with fold-down 7-inch monitor.

Titan Crew Cab models offer an available power down/up rear window.

Titan features a fold-flat front passenger seat that allows extra versatility and can also be used as a working area. Additionally, available power-adjustable front seats with a driver's seat memory system and heated seats provide added convenience, while standard front-seat active head restraints add one more extra element of safety. Titan also offers available power-adjustable foot pedals with memory.

Innovative 168-Degree Access
Along with the 'everyday innovations' found in Titan's storage and comfort details, the King Cab features Wide-Open rear doors that swing open 168 degrees, providing unprecedented access to the rear seats. Key to the door's design is a hefty, two-stage hinge with four axis of rotation. The door opens first to a conventional 85 degrees, then can be swung the rest of the way up to 168 degrees.

Along with providing a new level of ease for entering and exiting the rear seat, the Wide-Open door allows owners to load packages or cargo in crowded parking lots without having to maneuver between the traditional 'trap' of partially opened front and rear doors.

The Wide-Open door is standard on all 2007 Nissan Titan King Cab models.

A High-Function Útility Bed
Another big idea found on Titan, and perhaps Titan's biggest innovation and differentiation from the competition, is its cargo bed, addressing truck owners' desire for more utility and flexibility in how they use their trucks' beds.

Titan's available spray-on bedliner helps prevent scratch damage and corrosion to the bed and inner tailgate surface. Thinner than drop-in bedliners or typical aftermarket spray-on applications, the Titan bedliner also maximizes bed volume. It is the first offered by any original equipment manufacturer and is covered by the Nissan warranty.

Also available is the Útili-track tie-down channel system, with five special 'C' cross-section rails that are mounted in the bed (two channels in the bed floor, and one each on the bed side rails and the bed header panel).

Removable utility cleats (rated at 200 pounds) slide into the channels, providing a wide range of attaching points for cargo tie-down. The channels are open at the rear of the bed, allowing the cleats to be completely removed when not in use for easy cleaning.

Nissan offers an extensive line of bed dividers, sliding cargo trays and modular storage units, along with bike and kayak racks and other accessories.

The Titan bed also includes four standard stake pockets and, as required for a working pickup, carries 4x8-foot plywood sheets easily between the wheel housings. Titan's bed includes a standard dampened tailgate assist that aids in the effort to open and close the tailgate.

Titan also features an innovative bedside storage compartment located behind the rear driver's side wheel. The bedside storage bin is designed to hold common truck items such as work gloves, chains, rope, road flares, first aid kit or a hitch ball. The compartment is double-sealed to help prevent the intrusion of water and dust (though the compartment is not designed to be waterproof in case of submersion) and uses the Titan ignition key for unlocking.

Safety and Security
The 2007 Titan includes a long list of safety equipment, including available front seat side-impact and curtain supplemental air bags that help provide side-impact and rollover protection for outboard passengers (the first available among full-size pickups).

Standard safety features on the 2007 Titan include Nissan's Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and a front passenger occupant classification sensor, front seat belts with adjustable upper anchors, front seat active head restraints, pretensioners and load limiters, three-point rear outboard passenger seat belts and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat anchor system.

Driver and passenger confidence is accentuated with an extensive list of vehicle-incorporated safety features including a Zone Body construction with front and rear structure crumple zones, an energy absorbing steering column, hood buckling creases with safety stops, knee bolsters and special body side reinforcements and a shift interlock system.

Models and Manufacturing
The 2007 Nissan Titan King Cab and Crew Cab are offered in three models – XE, SE and LE each with a choice of 2WD and 4WD – and with a long list of standard equipment including a powerful 5.6-liter V8, 5-speed automatic transmission with Tow/Haul mode, power rack-and-pinion steering and 17-inch wheels and tires.

Titan XE models are equipped with a standard split front bench seat (40/20/40 split) with a center seat fold-down armrest storage bin and split fold-up rear seat (60/40 split) with three-point seat belts for all positions and available spray-on bedliner. Optional equipment packages include the XE Preferred Package with upgraded audio system, sliding rear tinted window and overhead console. The Crew Cab XE Preferred Package also adds remote keyless entry, vehicle security system and an Immobilizer system.

Optional SE equipment packages include a SE Popular Package (equipped with split bench seat or bucket seats) including upgraded audio system with steering wheel audio controls, rearview mirror, temperature and ÚGDO, proximity sensors and adjustable pedals; Chrome Package with 18' chrome wheels, chrome step rails, chrome mirror caps, spray-in bedliner, and special I/P graphics; and Popular Rockford Fosgate Package, which includes Popular Package contents plus premium sound Rockford Fosgate-powered audio system. The Crew Cab SE model offers an available sunroof. The well-equipped LE model offers an available Navigation Package with DVD-based navigation system.

LE models also add a Chrome Package with 18' chrome wheels and chrome step rails, and new for 2007 is the LE 'Texas Titan.'

All three models offer an Off-Road Package (4x4 models only), which includes Rancho® performance gas shocks, lower final gear ratio (3.357), P285/70R17 BFGoodrich Rugged Trail tires, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (7-spoke), skid plates (oil pan, fuel tank and transfer case), fog lamps and tow hooks.

Both the SE and LE models offer a Útility Bed Package with C-channel tie down system, bed side storage, rear bed lighting and power point and spray-on bedliner; and for 2007, the Titan's Tow Package is offered on XE, which includes receiver hitch, lower final gear ratio, additional 7-pin wiring harness plug, trailer brake prewiring, transmission temperature gauge, extending mirrors and heavy-duty battery.

Nissans contribution to the full-sized truck market, the Mississippi-built Titan is kind of a big deal. Large in charge, the Nissan Titan rivals trucks like the Ford F150, and the Tundra, and has been acclaimed for its expansive interior, wide rear doors and other unique features. Its downside though is that it sells rarely, maybe due to a lack of body styles in comparison to similar trucks. Also....
