2011 Ford E-Series
Available technologies like Ford Work Solutions, SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system and a navigation system with HD Radio technology add up to a formidable package for both productivity and customer satisfaction.

2011 Ford E-SeriesSince 1961 the time-tested E-Series has proven itself as always being there for customers and their family or business needs with smart innovations and the right equipment to get the job done.

Productivity solutions
E-Series is the van of choice for a range of customers – from small business owners to custom upfitters to larger commercial fleet operators. Ford E-Series offers features and technologies to make work and travel more productive and convenient. They include:

•Ford Work Solutions, which includes three industry-exclusive innovations:
•An in-dash computer developed with Magneti Marelli and powered by Microsoft Auto that provides full high-speed Internet access via the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network and navigation by Garmin; it's the first broadband-capable in-dash computer in production, and features available wireless accessories including a mouse and printer; the system allows customers to print invoices and access documents stored on their home or office computer networks – right on the job site
•Tool Link™, a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) asset-tracking system developed with DEWALT, the industry leader in professional power tools, and ThingMagic, the industry expert on embedded RFID technology; Tool Link enables customers to maintain a detailed real-time inventory of the tools or equipment stored in the vehicle
•Crew Chief™, a fleet telematics and diagnostics system that allows small fleet owners to efficiently manage their vehicles, quickly dispatch workers to job sites and keep detailed vehicle maintenance record
•Navigation system: Features a 6.5-inch touch screen display integrated into the instrument panel, plus HD Radio technology for additional listening options
•SIRIÚS Traffic™ and SIRIÚS Travel Link™: When coupled with navigation, this system provides a collection of data services including real-time local traffic (available in select markets), coast-to-coast weather conditions and fuel price information for more than 120,000 gas stations in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia
•Rear View Camera System (van and wagon only): The system is activated when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, giving the driver a clear view behind the vehicle; the video image is displayed in the self-dimming rearview mirror or in the navigation screen (on vans with navigation). The screen image includes an industry-first centerline and colored guides, providing the driver a better perspective of the vehicle's center point and periphery
•Speed limitation: Setting to 65 or 75 mph is available on select models (fleet only)
•Full-open rear door check: Detent positions at 105 degrees and 178 degrees makes it easier to move the rear doors to their full-open position, allowing full access to the rear cargo area
The right tools start with the right foundation
E-Series can offer some of the most advanced technology in the business since it already has one of the most capable chassis in the business. Some of the standard and available functionality built into E-Series includes:

•Standard on all E-Series vans and wagons, Ford's AdvanceTrac® with RSC® features unique functionality and a level of performance that competitive stability control systems can't match. Únlike competitor systems, AdvanceTrac with RSC uses a second gyroscopic roll-rate sensor to determine the vehicle's body roll angle and roll rate. If the unique roll-rate sensor detects a significant roll angle, the system applies additional countermeasures – such as applying brakes to one or more wheels or reducing engine power – to enhance vehicle rollover resistance
•Flex fuel-capable gasoline V-8 engines: All E-Series vehicles equipped with either the 4.6-liter or 5.4-liter V-8 engine are capable of running on E85 (85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline), pure gasoline or any blend in between
•Compressed natural gas/liquefied petroleum gas: CNG and LPG fuel-capable engine available on 5.4-liter V-8 and 6.8-liter V-10
•Safety equipment: Includes an optional dash-mounted front passenger airbag cutoff switch on vans and cutaways and an optional factory-installed integrated trailer brake controller that permits direct operation of a trailer's electronic brakes

Comfort and convenience built into the interior
The 2011 E-Series features a tough, functional interior that reflects its exterior design. Key features include:

•Functional, user-friendly instrument panel and center console
•Storage, cleverly integrated throughout:
•Door trim panels feature integrated second-bin compartments; a contents-retention strap helps secure items in the driver's door
•Instrument panel has a storage tray above the passenger airbag
•Center console includes three large cup holders that can accommodate a wide variety of cup sizes, an integrated clipboard holder and space for a laptop
•Four optional user-defined switches on the dashboard and an efficient wiring harness make it easy for upfitters to integrate aftermarket features such as auxiliary lighting
•Optional audio input jack on the instrument panel connects E-Series to MP3 players and other portable audio devices
•Large glove box provides still more storage and a second power point

FORD E-SERIES VANS CUT FUEL COSTS, CO2 EMISSIONS IN UNIQUE WAY – VAN POOLING COMMUTERS

•Ford E-Series vans can achieve a whopping 150 passenger-miles per gallon each day as commuter vehicles for VPSI Inc., a leader in developing and maintaining world-class vanpool programs
•Ford E-Series vans represent about 70 percent of VPSI's 5,000-vehicle fleet
•On an annual basis, VPSI's use of Ford E-Series vanpools eliminates more than 14 million commuter trips, saves more than $73 million in fuel and reduces CO2 emissions by 259,000 tons
•Ford E-Series has been America's top selling full-size van for 31 years running; in May, sales were up 34 percent versus a year ago

DEARBORN, Mich., June 21, 2010 – Thousands of Ford E-Series vans are achieving a whopping 150 passenger-miles per gallon each day as commuter vehicles for VPSI, a leader in developing and maintaining world-class vanpool programs.

A combination of Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 models represent about 70 percent of VPSI's 5,000-vehicle fleet and transport more than 40,000 people in the Únited States to and from work each day.

2011 Ford E-Series'We believe we have the most ecological Ford vehicles on the road,' said Steve Pederson, vice president, Fleet and Risk Management, VPSI, who calculated the 150 passenger miles-per gallon figure by multiplying the 15 mpg achieved by Ford E-Series vans by 10 passengers. Some VPSI Ford commuter vanpools seat as many as fifteen passengers, which would result in even more impressive results.

VPSI's use of Ford E-Series vanpools takes 14 million commuter vehicles off the nation's roadways each year, saving more than $73 million in fuel and reducing CO2 emissions by 259,000 tons.

VPSI defines a vanpool as a group of 7 to 15 people that commutes to and from work on a regular basis. VPSI provides the vehicle, a comprehensive maintenance and repair program, insurance and back-up vans. The group of commuters shares the monthly operating expense.

Ford E-Series: Ideal Solution for VPSI
Pederson says the company's decision to populate the majority of its fleet with Ford vehicles was a practical one.

'Ford made it easy for us,' he §äid. 'We have a great relationship with Ford Fleet, and we had an opportunity to work directly with Ford engineers who helped us get the base vehicles manufactured to our specifications directly from the factory, which helped minimize waste.'

VPSI modified the Ford E-Series vans to include center aisle seating for easy boarding, reclining luxury seating, and individual overhead reading lights.

'The vans are very comfortable, and they make commuting time more productive because passengers can read, catch up on their work or even sleep while riding to work instead of coping with the daily grind of traffic congestion,' said Pederson.

2011 Ford E-SeriesVanpooling also helps passengers reduce wear and tear on their personal vehicles and enables them to save money. The average vanpool commuter can save $5,000 per year, compared with the cost of driving to work alone, according to Michael Norvell, vice president, Business Development, VPSI.

'This is one of those rare situations where everybody benefits,' he §äid. 'The commuters save money and enjoy a comfortable ride to work. Employers conserve on-site parking at the workplace. And we all benefit from an environmental perspective by having fewer vehicles on the road. It's a win-win-win proposition.'

Ford E-Series has been America's top-selling full-size van for 31 years running. In May, sales were up 34 percent versus a year ago.
