The Maserati Buran was debuted at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle was conceived as a luxury and high-performance car with its designs gaining inspiration from the earlier Maserati automobiles. Italdesign's Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro were tasked with aiding in the design and construction of the automobile. Instructions were given to base the vehicle on the shape of the human body and human behavior. The vehicle was to be modern with easy access and a spacious interior for passengers and cargo. The primary focus of the vehicle was to be on the interior. The result was a vehicle that was long, wide, and tall, providing ample interior space. The vehicle was outfitted with a range of luxurious amenities. The multipurpose vehicle was suitable for all types of driving conditions and scenarios. It could be used as a GT car, for the workplace, or for long drives. The Buran was a design exercise that challenged the way a vehicle should be built.
