Mercedes-Benz Takes The Title At What Car? Used Car Of The Year Awards
October 4, 2018 by Mercedes-BenzMercedes-Benz has won three awards at the 2019 What Car? Used Car of the Year awards, including the top accolade. The E-Class Estate (2017-present) was named 'Best Used Car of the Year', as well as 'Best Used Estate Car of the Year'. The S-Class (2014-present) was named 'Best Used Luxury Car of the Year'. The E-Class Estate was also shortlisted as 'Best Used Estate Car for less than £27,000', while the S-Class won the 'Best Used Luxury Car for less than £40,000' category. On top of this, the Mercedes-Benz E 350 e (2017-2018) was shortlisted for the 'Best Used Green Car for less than £40,000' category, while the Mercedes-AMG GT (2015-present) was shortlisted for the 'Best Used Sports Car for less than £120,000'. The E-Class was praised for its innovative technology, interior comfort, efficient engines and low running costs. The S-Class was commended for its excellent ride quality, comfortable interior and reliability. Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, said: 'When judging the estate category, practicality was foremost in our judges' minds, but what lent the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate the win was how much more it offers. For example, an interior that makes every occupant feel truly special; an equipment list that's impressive even in entry-level versions; efficient diesel engines; and a comfortable, quiet driving experience that does a fantastic job of isolating you from the road and the world outside. No wonder we deemed it worthy not only of our Used Estate Car of the Year award, but also our overall Used Car of the Year trophy. 'As for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, we felt that nothing else for the price could offer the same sense of occasion, lavish equipment, and soothing calm. Throw in remarkably efficient engines and impressive reliability, and it makes a lot of sense as a used car buy. Also surprising is what good value it is. All that made it a no-brainer for our Used Luxury Car of the Year award.' Krishan Bodhani, Director of Remarketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars UK, said: 'The E-Class and S-Class are both are perfect examples of what Mercedes-Benz does best, combining clever technology with competitive running costs and a luxurious interior.'
