Award To Honor The Life Of Vincent Motorcycle Guru 'Big Sid' Biberman At Barrington Concours D'Elegance

BARRINGTON, ILL. – July 10, 2013 – The 7th Annual Barrington Concours d'Elegance will honor the incredible contributions to the motorcycle world by 'Big Sid' Biberman with a special award on July 14, 2013, at the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Ill. Presented during the Concours' opening ceremony, this award will celebrate the life and accomplishments of 'Big Sid' and will be accepted by his son, Matthew Biberman.
'The contributions that 'Big Sid' made to the world of motorcycling are truly remarkable and not fully recognized.' said David Cooper, Concours Co-Chair and Chief Executive Officer. 'With his recent untimely passing, we wanted to recognize his life and achievements. This award represents his iconic history as a legendary motorcyclist.'
In conjunction with the award honoring 'Big Sid', there will be seven Vincent motorcycles on display complemented by the Biberman collection of five bikes, two race bikes that hold land speed records and the unique Vincati built by Big Sid and Matthew, which was immortalized in the book, 'Big Sid's Vincati.' This will be the first time all five machines are shown at one venue.
'My father dedicated much of his life to racing and modifying these motorcycles,' said Matthew. 'Early in his life, he won many awards for his accomplishments as a racer, and no one could modify a bike for speed and performance like he could. I appreciate the Concours' efforts to respect and pay tribute to the breadth of my father's work and I'm honored to accept this award on his behalf.'
The Barrington Concours d'Elegance is a year-long celebration of automotive excellence featuring more than ten events. The Vincent motorcycles will be displayed at the Concours' capstone event on July 12-14, along with 100 of the world's finest and rarest vehicles, including a collection of Duesenbergs, Avions Voisins and Indy cars.
