2001 Aston Martin DB7

The new Aston Martin DB7 was introduced in 1993 and wore styling by Ian Callum. The design and lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen in its design. In 1999, at the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin introduced the six liter Cosworth-designed and built V12 engine, producing 420 horsepower, giving the car a zero-to-sixty mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed limited to 185 mph. Ian Callum's design changes included an enlarged grille, fog lamps, and restyled valances resulting in a more aggressive appearance.

The engine in the Vantage was a joint effort between Ford's Research and Vehicle Technology Group and Cosworth. The 5935cc 48-valve, all-alloy, 60-degree V12 unit developed 420 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Initially it was offered with a choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. From 2000, a 'Touchtronic' semi-auto system was offered. The DB7 Vantage received special reinforcements to boost torsion rigidity and the suspension was uprated with new wishbones at the front and an additional link to the rear. Additionally, there were stiffer springs and gas-filled Bilstein dampers. There was a power assisted rack-and-pinion steering setup and large ABS-backed vented disc brakes.

Production of the marque's first V12 production, the DB7 Vantage, continued until 2003 with 2,385 coupes produced.
