The Kia Elan was produced from 1996 through 1997. It was a rebadged version of the Lotus Type M100 Elan which had been produced from 1989 through 1995. The front-engined, front-wheel drive vehicle was offered as a 2-door convertible roadster.The Elan produced by Kia and the M100 produced by Lotus were identical in appearance. Kia had secured a license to produce the vehicle. The Lotus version was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 162 horsepower. The Kia 1.8-liter produced about ten horsepower less.
