1968 BMW 2002

New for 1968 was the two-door 2002 sedan powered by a 2.0-liter engine. Fearing the 1600ti would be too difficult to modify to comply with new U.S. emission standards, BMW used a larger engine that offered slightly more weight and horsepower. Unfortunately, the twin-carbureted 2002ti version never came to the U.S. due to emission regulations. The European trim version had anti-roll bars in the front and rear, '2002' ti on the driver's side of the grille, and a four- or five-speed gearbox.
