Citroen Shifts Into Racing Gear For 2012 Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Citroën is showcasing the very best of its stylish flair, 'Créative Technologie' and racing pedigree at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed with the DS3 WRC in action; the UK premiere of DS4 Racing concept and a display of the brand's award-winning line-up including the recently launched New DS5.

DS4 RACING CONCEPT

Making its UK premiere, Citroën is exhibiting the DS4 Racing concept on the show stand. First unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, DS4 Racing is a hot blooded concept car with a championship-winning Citroën Racing pedigree.

The model's 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, developed by Citroën Racing, provides up to 256bhp (160bhp per litre) - a record for a Citroën series production car. This spectacular performance is accompanied by CO2 emissions of just 155g/km.

The chassis and running gear have been modified with the utmost precision, with the chassis lowered by 35mm and the track widened by 55mm at the front and 75mm at the rear. The braking system boasts fixed four-piston callipers at the front together with special 380mm diameter discs. There are also new carbon fibre components including an air diffuser, front splitter and wheel arch extensions as well as larger diameter 19-inch wheels and 235/40 tyres.

A stand out feature of the DS4 Racing concept is the textured-effect matt grey paint, a stylish and modern colour that catches the light to enhance the lines of the car. Further exterior refinements include a two-tone roof and two-tone wheels with a special DS4 Racing design.

CITROËN RACING

Citroën Racing, the championship winning team behind seven WRC Manufacturers' titles and eight Driver's titles for Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena, is back to wow the crowds at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed with the mighty 300bhp DS3 WRC. Piloted by Citroën Junior Team driver Thierry Neuville, Citroën Racing will be running the championship winning rally car on the famous hill climb as well as the Forest Rally Stage on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July.

Neuville made a name for himself by winning the Belgian Citroën Racing Trophy in 2009. In 2010, he drove a Citroën C2 S1600 in the Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC), and he also raced in his first IRC rallies at the wheel of a Peugeot 207 S2000. In 2011 he won the Tour of Corsica and San Remo rallies and was also in contention for the IRC title right up until the last event. The Belgian is currently driving a Citroën DS3 WRC in the 2012 World Rally Championship.

The Citroën DS3 WRC boasts the same powerful lines as the production DS3, emphasised by cooling vents and aerodynamic parts designed to improve road holding at high speeds. Under the bonnet, the 300hp 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine was conceived from start to finish by Citroën Racing. The four-wheel-drive transmission incorporates a six-gear sequential gearbox and front and rear mechanical differentials.

NEW CITROËN DS5

New Citroën DS5 will be taking part in the Moving Motor Show, which returns for a third year at Goodwood, enabling a limited number of motoring enthusiasts and new car buyers to experience the latest models up close with a restricted number of test drives also available.

New Citroën DS5 is a model for owners to experience the thrill of driving an exceptional car every day. The Citroën flagship's distinctive styling, sophisticated design and exceptional attention to detail has received positive praise from both public and press. DS5 is the first production Citroën to feature a full hybrid diesel drivetrain - Hybrid4 - which delivers low CO2 emissions from just 99g/km and savings of up to 35% in city driving, alongside other significant financial benefits.

New Citroën DS5 will join the award-winning DS3 and DS4 on the Company's show stand along with a static DS3 WRC and a historic DS rally car.
