The 1977 MGB roadster was powered by an overhead valve four-cylinder engine displacing 91 cubic-inches. Horsepower was rated at 55 and offered 67 foot-lbs of torque. They had a four-speed, all-synchro gearbox and disc brakes in the front with drums in the rear. Pricing began at $4,350. The GT Coupe version was no longer available. Another change was the replacement of the twin carburetors to a single Zenith-Stromberg unit. The result of this switch was a loss of power, by over 10 horsepower of the following year. To get better fuel mileage, the gear ratios were modified.
