The Porsche 911 Carrera was available as either a coupe or convertible with rear wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Pricing began at $59,900 for the Carrera 2 Coupe and rose to $74,200 for the Carrera 4 Cabriolet. The base engine was a horizontally opposed, overhead cam six-cylinder engine displacing 219.7 cubic-inches and delivering 270 horsepower. Transmission options including a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The optional Tiptronic transmission gave the driver the option of selecting gears via buttons on the steering wheel, as well as by moving the shift lever up and down.
