For 1987, Jaguar added the XJ-SC two-seat cabriolet to the V-12 coupe. It had removable Targa roof panels and a manually-operated folding rear-quarter top. The cabriolets included full rear luggage-area carpeting and two locking storage bins. They had a removable hardtop section with heated rear glass, which could be mounted in place of the folding soft top. A three-speed automatic gearbox was mated to the 326 cubic-inch V12 engine. It had an aluminum block and head, electronic fuel injection system, Thimble tappets, and offered 262 horsepower. There were very few changes to the coupe, except that it gained manual override to the climate-control system.
