Mercedes-Benz produced the 560 SEC from 1985 until 1991, and was regarded as the company's flagship vehicle and the ultimate luxury Coupe of the day. They were one of the most expensive cars in the world when produced and came well equipped with many amenities and luxury features as standard. The list included heated electric seats with memory, a limited-slip differential, electric steering, self-leveling suspension, and ABS.

Auction entries : 1For 1991 the 560 Series consisted of the 560 SEL four-door sedan and the 560 SEC 4-passenger, two-door coupe. The 560SEL had a base price of $73,800 and the 560SEC sold for $81,500. Power was from an overhead-cam eight-cylinder engine with a light alloy body and head. There was a multi-point fuel injection system and five main bearings helping to produce 238 horsepower and nearly 290 ft-lbs of torque. A four-speed automatic was standard.
