1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass

For 1977, the Oldsmobile Cutlass was available as the Cutlass S, Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Supreme Cruiser, Cutlass Vista Cruiser, Cutlass Salon, and the Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Body styles included a coupe, sedan, and station wagon. In total, around 632755 Oldsmobile Cutlass was produced in 1977, accounting for about 56-percent of total Oldsmobile production.

The Cutlass S and the other versions of the Cutlass were similar in design, except in the front where there were different grilles. The Cutlass S had a more sporty design with a raked appearance. The Cutlass had quad rectangular headlamps that were positioned above horizontal parking lamps. In the back were dual-stacked taillamps - the coupe and sedan had taillamps with new vertical bezels and lenses.

The Cutlass S models could be purchased with the 4-4-2 option which - at this point in history - was an appearance and handling package. They had unique striping, a unique front-end panel, and dual grilles with a set of narrow horizontal bars.

Inside, the Olds Cutlass had a newly restyled instrument panel. The clock was repositioned to the right side. The former round units were replaced with rectangular air outlets on the passenger side.

The base engine was a 231 V6 unit offering just over 100 horsepower. The Salon was powered by a standard 260 cubic-inch V8 that produced 110 horsepower. Other Cutlass models could purchase the optional 260 V8.
