After World War II, the Cadillac lineup included the Series 61, Series 62, Series 75 Fleetwood, and the Series 60 Special Fleetwood consisting of a single body style - a sedan. Its wheelbase measured 133 inches which would shrink to 130 inches in 1950. It would return to the 133-inch platform for 1954 and the 331 cubic-inch, overhead-valve, five main bearing V8 engine offered 230 horsepower at 4400 RPM, an increase of 20 horsepower over the previous year. Body styles included the five-passenger sedan which had a base price of $4,700, an increase of approximately $300 over the previous year. The total sales of the Series 60 reached 16,200 units, approximately 3,800 less than the prior year.
The Series 60 Special had the 'Fleetwood' ***** located on the rear deck, the same location as the V-shaped ornaments which could also be found on the hood. The interior was well appointed by GM's in-house coachbuilder, Fleetwood, and came nicely equipped with windshield wipers, a 12-volt electrical system, power steering, and a horizontal front seat adjuster. In the front were a new grille, longer sweeping fenders, and a panoramic windshield.
The 1954 Cadillacs had a lower, modern body with dagmar-style bumper guards, jet-style dual exhaust outlets, and a redesigned rear grille.
