2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt GT

This vehicle was named after the 1968 motion picture 'Bullitt,' in which Steve McQueen, as Detective Frank Bullitt, pursued perps through the streets of San Francisco in a 1967 Mustang GT 'fastback.'

The 2001 Ford Mustang 'Bullitt' Coupe came equipped with a 4.6-liter single overhead camshaft V8 engine delivering 275 horsepower to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Further modifications include twin 57mm bore throttle body, cast aluminum intake manifold, high flow mufflers for increased power and aggressive exhaust note, and optimized alternator and pump pulley ratios. 13-inch Brembo disc brakes provided the stopping power and the suspension was comprised of a performance handling package with re-valved Tokico struts and shocks, unique stabilizer bars (front and rear), and short arm frame rail connectors. The car was lowered 3/4 of an inch to generate a firmer, better-balanced ride and improved handling characteristics.

Ford released a limited production run of 5,000 examples of the Bullitt in 2001 and all were sold within the first month of offering and often above sticker. Unique design features include rocker-panel moldings that enhance the low-to-the-ground appearance, a brushed aluminum fuel filler door is prominently placed on the quarter panel, with Bullitt badging, and polished and rolled tailpipe tips. 17-inch American Racing TorqThrust style wheels mimicking the 1968 car.
