Major New Work on MG Motor Racing History to be Released at Quail A Motorsports Gathering 2014 during Pebble Beach Week
Company press release.NEW MG BOOK CELEBRATES THE BRITISH MARQUE'S GREATEST YEAR The most comprehensive history of the supercharged MG Magnettes of 1933, the legendary K3s, which raced to success in the Mille Miglia and the Ulster Tourist Trophy will be released at Quail A Motorsports Gathering, Quail Lodge & Golf Club, Carmel, California during Pebble Beach Week on Friday August 15, 2014 from 10am to 4pm. The Earl Howe team car driven by Captain George Eyston and Count Giovanni 'Johnny' Lurani Cernuschi to a win in the 1100cc class in the 1933 Mille Miglia and later by Tazio Nuvolari to a win at the Ulster Tourist Trophy, K3003 JB1475, will be exhibited for the first time in North America at the Motorsports Gathering. The celebrated car has been shipped from Australia by its owner Peter Briggs to coincide with the launch of the book. The book is entitled 'The Mighty MG Magnettes of 33' and subtitled 'The Cars, The Drivers, The Mystery' as it unravels the story of the five team cars (two prototypes and the first three race cars made) and what happened to them after 1933 to today. It was written by Australian motoring historian Graeme Cocks, with an introduction by English MG historian and marque expert Mike Allison. The book is 464 pages and features some 500 pictures, many never before published. The author will be in attendance at Quail A Motorsports Gathering with Peter Briggs for signings.
