1966 Meyers Manx

The dune buggy craze of the early 1960s began with Bruce Meyers and the Meyers Manx. Beginning with a Volkswagen Beetle, the body was removed, leaving the floor pan and nearly all the components needed to make it run and drive. The wheelbase was shortened and a one-piece fiberglass 2-seat body was installed. It was dubbed the Manx for its stubby tail, which exposed the engine (like the breed of cat). The buggy had a low frontal stance that was high at the rear - in similar fashion to its feline namesake.

Bruce F. Meyers produced the Manzx at his Fountain Valley, SoCal-based facilities from 1964 through 1971.
