1968 Crossle 15F

In the mid-1950s, John Crossle built a Ford Racing Special. In the years that followed, his Crossle Car Company would build cars for Formula Atlantic/B, F2, F3, and even F5000. The Northern Ireland firm would continue to build Formula Ford single-seaters through the 1980s.

The company's sports-racing cars helped the company build a name and reputation on the Continental mainland.

The Crossle 12F was a 1600cc powered race car that competed in Formula B competition in the United States. This was followed by a 5-liter car, built near the close of 1968, to compete in Formula A competition. Two examples raced in the United States but with little success. One example entered the car of US Crossle dealer Roger Barr and the other for Ralph Loesser. A third example was raced for several years by Fred Saunders in the British F5000 series. A Rover V8 engine powered that car.
