Brembo Hackathon: Winners of the second edition announced

For the challenge of generative AI and brake pad recipe creation, the winning team is Team Elleman, earning a $10,000 prize. The team combined generative AI and traditional machine learning techniques to propose new candidate compounds for braking pads and predict the test performance. This proposed methodology could speed up the development and testing of new revolutionary braking materials. The second-place team for this challenge is Brembot Alpha, earning a 3,000$ prize. For the challenge of synthetic data for warranty classification, the winning team is WarranTeam, earning a $10,000 prize. The team leveraged advanced AI Language Models to generate new data that were used to improve the accuracy of a claim classification model. The generated data especially improved the identification of rare failure modes, for which very few data were originally available. The second-place team for this challenge is Warranty Warriors — earning a 2,000$ prize. The winners, chosen from among the projects of more than 50 competitors, were selected by a jury, chaired by Daniele Schillaci, Brembo CEO, and composed of: Stéphane Rolland, Brembo North America President and CEO; Dino Maggioni, System GBU Chief Operating Officer of Brembo; Mauro Piccoli, Chief Marketing Officer of Brembo; Marco Borsari, Chief Quality Officer of Brembo; Paolo Rezzaghi, IPR Manager of Brembo; Luigi Roggia, Lead Data Scientist and CEO of Apply Science. The competition was also extended with an additional online phase for an in-depth analysis with Brembo experts' mentorship on the solutions conceived by the participants during the event. The selected winning team for this phase is 4th Runner Up, which used linear programming and compound distributions to generate new candidate compounds, earning a 2,000$ prize.
