Nissan SUVs earn 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK ratings from IIHS

All-electric Nissan Ariya scores TOP SAFETY PICK rating, Nissan Pathfinder awarded TOP SAFETY PICK+

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder has been awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation for vehicles built after November 2023, reflecting its strong safety performance in crash tests with more stringent requirements for 2024. Additionally, the 2024 Nissan Ariya all-electric crossover has been awarded the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK rating for FWD or AWD vehicles with a 63-kWh battery.

To achieve the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, vehicles tested by IIHS must score a 'Good' rating in small overlap front, updated side-impact crash test, and no less than an 'Acceptable' in the updated moderate overlap front; feature headlights rated 'Good' or 'Acceptable' across all trims; and score 'Acceptable' or 'Good' rating in vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention systems.

For 2024, IIHS updated its moderate overlap front crash test with an additional dummy in the second row of seats, behind the driver, to help measure how well vehicles protect rear-seat passengers.

The IIHS designation adds to Pathfinder's long safety resume, which also includes an overall 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
