Chevron History

Chevron Heritage
What a wonderful Heritage Chevron has. Derek Bennett was a true Engineering genius, a contemporary of Colin Chapman (Lotus) and Eric Broadley (Lola). Indeed Derek designed the Chevron B1, the first car he made and called a Chevron, to beat the Lotus 7, which it did comprehensively because of the innovative independent rear suspension as opposed to the solid system on the Lotus. Not long afterwards, he built the Chevron GT (the fore runner of the Chevron B8) to beat the Lotus Elan and once again it was able to obliterate its opponent on the track. The Chevron B19 beat the Lola T210 by 1 point , with Brian Redman against Jo Bonnier at Spa to take the European Sportscar Championship in 1971.

Every model in the Chevron range has been a Race Winner and sometimes a Championship Winner. In the 1970's the majority of Formula 1 drivers had competed in a Chevron and I would like to think since 1965 the Chevron marque has been mentioned in every issue of Autosport. Appropriately, the Mission Statement for Chevron could be ‘Always Win Straight out of the Box' as nearly every Chevron has done just that, won on its debut.

By continuing to hold the torch for Chevron today, having celebrated the 25th Anniversary and in 2005 the 40th Anniversary of the marque, all of us here at the contemporary company; Chevron Racing Cars Ltd feel honoured to be part of the Chevron Family. Honoured, to carry on that excellence in performance, engineering and design that Derek Bennett so encouraged. Honoured to keep the name of Chevron still at the front, with an unprecedented 6 International Orwell Supersports Cup Championships in recent years and Euro F2 Championship in 2006. Honoured now in 2007 to bring to the market the first Chevron Production Road Car, the lovely Chevron B1 Mk2 – styled on that very first racing car.

The Legend Continues…………….

Additional Information
What a fantastic 42 years it has been for Chevron Racing Cars. In 2005 we celebrated the 40th Anniversary with superb events in the USA organized by Ed Swart and the many Chevrons at Oulton Park, England with owners, engineers and drivers past and present. This was such a lovely weekend with everyone taking part and honouring the genius of Derek Bennett. Remembering too all the superb wins for Chevron in single seaters and sportscars throughout the world. The majority of Formula 1 drivers in the 1980's had driven a Chevron at some stage in their career. The rollercoaster ride that is motorsport ridden by every one of the Chevron family in those 42 years.

Chevron still dominate the Historic Racing scene, the cars so driver friendly and a joy to race. Here at the Chevron Racing Cars Raceshop within the Vin Malkie Racing Group we are proud to have taken our drivers to win many Championships. Every race has been hard fought and many hours of preparation go into each car to make sure each driver has an enjoyable and competitive weekend. Of course, in between there have been many individual wins and personal triumphs for all members of the wider Chevron family who we support, whether it is in hillclimbs, on track, single seaters or sportscars. Advice and components from a ***** and bolt to a complete car are only a call away.

And now to the future, look at our exciting Chevron B1 Mk2, this beautiful little roadster will be suitable for road and track use and is a must for any Chevron Enthusiast or if you are new to the marque, just be taken away by its looks and performance. Not forgetting our racing heritage, the iconic Chevron B16 can once again be bought as a new car, built by the factory to original specification to comply with the current FIA Historic Technical Passports (HTP), the only place you can get an authentic Chevron chassis number and plate for your car.Source: Chevron Cars Ltd.
