TEAM HISTORY

DRR, a limited liability corporation, was founded in 1998 by Dennis Reinbold and Eric De Bord. The specific purpose of DRR was to organize the most professional IRL team in motorsports with the clear goal of winning the Indianapolis 500 and the Indy Racing League Championship. For 1999, DRR partnered with veteran IRL team Sinden Racing Service to assist DRR in reaching that goal. In 1999, DRR produced two top 6 finishes in the first 3 races. At the 1999 MCI WorldCom 200 at Phoenix International Raceway, DRR and driver Robbie Buhl finished a strong third – the highest full race IRL finish ever for an Infiniti-powered race car.

While the famous brickyard of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway gave DRR its biggest test of determination to date while attempting to qualify for the 1999 Indianapolis 500, Team DRR and 1999 Indy primary sponsor Purex persevered to finish a strong 6th in the 'Race'.

After an early attempt at qualifying led to a severe crash of its primary car, Team Dreyer & Reinbold Racing/Purex returned on the second and final day of qualifying with the team's backup Purex racer. However, on the car's first qualification lap, the engine expired and the team's hopes of qualifying looked nearly hopeless as severe weather was imminent and a threat to end qualifying.

However, a quick discussion with Indy legendary driver and car owner A. J. Foyt led to an agreement whereby DRR would borrow an unqualified Foyt-entered car for a quick qualifying attempt by Buhl. After less than twelve practice laps, Buhl buckled in for his four qualify laps while rain was less than a mile from the racetrack.

Buhl's fourth lap, with rain coming down in turn 4, proved to be the key lap which brought Buhl and DRR their place in the 83rd Indianapolis 500. The team's two-day qualifying drama has been recognized as one of the most exciting qualify stories in the history of the 500.

2008 Dallara Dreyer & Reinbold Racing IndycarFor race day, Buhl made a quick charge from his 32nd starting spot and never looked back. With yellow flag pit stops and a nerve of steel, Buhl advanced more spots than any other driver during the 500 and finished an outstanding 6th.

For the 2000, DRR made Robbie Buhl an equity partner while Robbie continued his driving responsibilities. This business development is expected to bring even greater depth and racing expertise to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

The 2000 season proved to be a success story for DRR. The team opened the season with a huge win at Walt Disney Motor Speedway and remained in the top 8 in points all season long. Most importantly, the team has earned the status of being one of the Series' top performing and professional teams.

In 2001, the team continued its role as one of the two factory Infiniti teams. This role early on in the season has caused some consternation with the motor development causing several failures during races. However, in the second half of the season DRR emerged as one of the Indy Racing League's best teams as driver Robbie Buhl has taken the #24 G Force Infiniti to the lead in over half of the races, having set fastest race lap in three events.

DREYER & REINBOLD RACING COMPLETES MID-OHIO QUALIFYING; RICE IN FAST SIX

2008 Dallara Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Indycar
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing had its best road course qualifying effort of 2008 on Saturday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Sunday's Honda Indy 200 with Buddy Rice placing his #15 car in the seventh position.

For the first time this year, Rice advanced from the round one qualifying session into the semi-final round of 12. To do so, he posted a lap time around the 2.258-mile circuit of 1:07.4, quickest in his qualifying group.

His time was comfortable enough to make it in the final group, the Firestone Fast Six, if he could have replicated his lap time.

While running in the second session, he was flirting with spots fourth through seventh. Late in the session, while in seventh, he made one more attempt to bump his way into the final session. Coming to start his flyer lap, however, he dropped a wheel off-track, and the ensuing slide was enough to ruin his last shot to move into the final six.

The fast lap he did post was only .14 seconds off the time needed to advance.

Still, the session is the best showing for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing on a road course in 2008, and Rice and the team feel very happy with the consistency of the race car.

Milka Duno, making her second IndyCar Series start on a road course, used all three practice sessions and qualifying to acclimate herself to the car and the track. Between the final practice and qualifying, the crew made adjustments to the car much made Duno feel very comfortable during qualifying. The laps she turned were her fastest for the weekend.

Both teams are continuing to improve as the weekend progresses and feel confident that solid results await them.

On Sunday morning, Rice and Duno will have one last 30-minute warm-up at 8:30, which can be seen live via streaming video on indycar.com. The Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course begins at 1:30 p.m. EST and can be seen live and in HD on ABC.

'You're pushing, it's hard, it's a narrow line. What I'm personally disappointed with is myself. I ran a (1:07.4) in that previous session. There's no reason I shouldn't have been able to back that up, and I didn't. We should have been in the fast six. The Dreyer and Reinbold team did a great job. I'm happy with everything. I'm just disappointed we didn't put the Roll Coater Honda in the Fast Six.'

'The team made a very good car. I had a consistent run during qualifying but still need to improve. This is part of my learning process with this car in a road course.'

BUDDY RICE NOTCHES ANOTHER TOP TEN IN RAIN-SHORTENED NASHVILLE

2008 Dallara Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Indycar
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing's #15 team with driver Buddy Rice took home seventh place in Saturday night's Firestone Indy 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway.

Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon gambled on fuel strategy late, and when rains came and shortened the race distance 29 laps, they stole the top two positions, keeping Rice out of the top-five for a second week in a row.

Rice kept his nose clean all night on the difficult 1.33-mile concrete oval. He managed to maintain his position hovering around the top-ten in the early parts of the race while handling an under-steering car. His crew dialed it in on the first two stops, helping him to quicken his pace and get into contention for a top-five. The crew also earned him positions in the pits on a couple of occasions. With another solid finish, Rice moved into 12th in the point standings, only 29 points behind eighth-place Ryan Briscoe.

Milka Duno tied her best qualifying effort of 2008 by earning 16th position. Her race started off well as she stayed with the lead pack and gained several spots on her first pit stop.

Things went awry on the second stop when a malfunction of the air jack failure caused the team to lose a lap while trying to compensate for the issues.

She managed to finish the race, two laps down, but her and the team can only wonder 'what if' as they left the track. Though a disappointment, Duno continues to improve on the ovals and gel with the team.

The next event on the schedule is the Honda Indy Grand Prix at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 20th. Practice begins on Friday with two sessions, followed by a third practice on Saturday morning. Qualifying takes place at 11:45 a.m. EST on the 19th. Coverage of all these sessions can be seen live via streaming video on indycar.com.

The Sunday afternoon race begins at 1:30 p.m. EST and can be seen live and in HD on ABC.

'It was another good night. The team had a lot of guests at the event, so it was a good chance for us to put on a good show in front of everybody. It's a bummer that rain put a damper on things, but I'm glad we earned another top-ten finish. I have to thank all the sponsors and the whole crew for continuing to put in a good effort in this tough stretch of the season. Let's move on to Mid-Ohio and look to get another solid result there.'

'During the weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, we improved a lot with the car and had a good qualifying. The race was difficult. It's a hard track and difficult to pass with only one line. We made a mistake in a first pit stop with the green flag, and I lost a lap. My thanks to the team and the mechanics that worked hard.'
